The Red Kite Trail is a beautiful scenic walking route in Derwent Valley and includes the popular animal sculpture trail close to Thornley Woodland Centre. There are a few ways you can visit by bus including the X45 from Newcastle. You can find out more and plan your bus journey here.
7 - Visit Tanfield Railway by bus.
Tanfield Railway is Britain's Oldest Railway. We have enjoyed a few trips here over the years and it's always a brilliant day out for all ages. You can explore Causey Arch and have a paddle in the streams while you are there too. Travel with Go North East and you'll receive a 25% discount on your ticket. Dogs are welcome on board too. You can find out more and plan your bus journey here.
8 - Visit Tynemouth Priory by bus.
Tynemouth Priory is always a fantastic place to visit but if you plan a trip over 5 & 6 August, there is the additional bonus of a special Knight's Tournament taking place in the grounds. You can find out more and plan your bus journey here.
9 - Visit the Angel of the North by bus.
The Angel 21 service will drop you just outside of the Angel. I feel like many of us have passed the Angel many times but not actually visited and seen her up close. We enjoyed a little bus adventure to see the Angel when the kids were little and she is HUGE! We loved seeing her up close. You can find out more and plan your journey here.
