This post is based on a visit in June 2026 which we paid for ourselves. Please check with venue direct for up to date info as details can change.
When Spilmans announced that some of their strawberries were ready early this year due to all of the lovely sunshine we’ve been receiving, we decided to book up and go along as an end of term treat. We love it here and the teens did not need any convincing.
We booked ahead online (it was £8.74 for a family ticket) and checked in during our time slot. You’re welcome to help yourself to punnets which they have in different sizes. We decided on two large punnets. Then head over to the fields - at the moment there are two strawberry fields open (the traditional type that grow from the ground) but there are more to follow across the summer including standing options for those who can’t bend. Fill your punnets with ripe strawberries.
We had lots of fun selecting the very best strawberries and two large punnets set us back £5.80 (once our entrance fee had been taken off) on the day which felt like a bargain.
There’s also a stunning wild flower meadow next the the fields which is ‘pick your own’. Pick your favourites to take home (charged at £5 per bunch). There are some lovely photo ops too.
If you’re visiting with kids, there’s a giant bouncy pillow, an outdoor playground and an indoor playbarn with lots of ride-on tractors, ball pools and play houses - all included at no additional cost.
A highlight for us (and one of the reason we always choose to visit Spilmans) is that they have two giant pizza ovens and serve some cracking pizzas. It was £48 for 4 pizzas and drinks and there’s indoor and outdoor seating. They’re so good! They also have an ice cream kiosk this year.
I can never resist a farm shop and we picked up a nice bottle of wine to go with our strawberries tonight, a couple of bottles of local cider and a summer candle for less than £20.
Total cost of our day out for 4 (excluding shopping): -Admission: £8.74
-Two Punnets of Strawberries: £5.80
-Pizza & Drinks: £48
-Total = £62.54 or £15.63 per person which includes a wood-fired pizza & a drink each and 2 large punnets of strawberries between us plus a nice family afternoon out, isn’t bad at all.
Dogs welcome on leads but not in the fields where the strawberries are planted. Most people left their dog with mam/dad at the edge of the field as the others picked and then swapped.
