Sandy Park (Crimdon) Glamping Review

This post is based on a stay in August 2025 which we paid for ourselves. Please check with venue direct for the most up to date info as details can change.

Last summer we booked a bargain mid-week glamping trip for 2 adults and 1 dog. It was £240 for 4 nights Mon-Fri in August. Considering this was school holidays and included a hot tub, I thought it was a massive bargain.

You can book Sandy Park via Hoseasons and they regularly run money off deals so do check regularly or sign up for their mailing list.

Sandy Park is a small family-run site overlooking the beach. They offer 4 glamping pods with their own hot tub (each sleeping up to 2 guests and two pods are dog friendly) plus a cottage on the same site which sleeps up to 4 guests and has it's own hot tub.

We stayed in Dene View.

Our glamping pod was comfortable with a proper double bed and en-suite shower/toilet and well equipped with seating, electricity, running water, TV, fridge/freezer, microwave, kettle, toaster and crockery. We had everything we needed.

The pods are double glazed and centrally heated so suitable for all weathers.

I absolutely loved the location overlooking the sea and with direct access to the coastal path. It was perfect for our morning and evening dog walks.

You also have your own private courtyard with a wood-fired hot tub, BBQ area, picnic table and lounger chairs. There is a parking space by your pod too.

On arrival, the owners prepare your hot tub for you and set up the woodburning stove / demonstrate how to use it on check in. It's pretty straight forward. They do state that it may take a few hours for the water to heat up as it has just been cleaned and changed (which gets a big thumbs up from me).

In the evenings we found it would usually take around 90 minutes to get the water to a decent temp and it was so nice relaxing here after a day exploring. Lovely and chilled!

We were blessed with lovely weather during our stay and mostly enjoyed BBQs for tea. There are various takeaways and restaurants in the vicinity too.

Sunset walks here will forever be my fave. It was such a relaxing place to stay.

We stayed as a couple + dog but a single parent was in the pod behind us with their son. This kind of break is ideal for single parents with one child. You can also book the cottage for up to four guests.

There's lots to do in the area including coastal walks, Hartlepool Marina, National Museum of Royal Navy, Heugh Battery, Seaton Carew (fish and chips / arcades / mini golf / splash park / playgrounds), RSPB Saltholme, Wynyard Woodland Park & Summerhill Park & Activities Centre.
