A Brand New Theme Park Opens in the North East this July

AD - This is an advert for June 2026. Always check details with venues direct when booking and before heading out for the most up to date info.

The UK's first ever Live Action Show Park opens in Bishop Auckland on 18 July 2026. It will then be open daily for the season from 10:30am - 4:30pm  (closed Mondays) until 12 September 2026.

The Storied Lands is not a traditional theme park - there are no rides but you can expect five spectacular live shows and immersive experiences from different periods across history.

You can watch my video preview / site visit to The Storied Lands here: The Storied Lands Preview

The Five Shows / Experiences (all included with your ticket)

Before your visit, you will be emailed a bespoke timetable with performance times set across the day to ensure you don't miss a thing. There is space to relax, food & drink options, a playground and drop in experiences to enjoy between shows.

The Lost Feather

This impressive show featuring 250 birds takes place in a purpose built nest-themed arena. It's a seated performance set to music. Expect a large scale production with a range of spectacular birds flying overhead and immersive staging including water, mist and evolving landscapes.

Don't miss the mega grande finale! I've had a sneak peek at this performance and wow, it's like nothing else in the UK and so much more than your typical Birds of Prey show.

Legend of the Wear

This large scale live action water stunt show brings the local legend of the Lambton Worm to life. Audiences will take a seat in the lakeside village and enjoy a powerful live performance around the lake with storytelling, lots of drama and epic stunts.

Land of The Vikings

Your experience begins with a walk through a Viking Settlement. You can see traditional skills including farming, fishing and blacksmithing in action, meet Viking characters and get to understand how their everyday lives unfolded.

And then it's time to take your seat in the Viking Arena as a fierce Viking Battle takes place. Swords will clash, fire will burn and warriors collide as Viking honour is on the line.

The Trusty Steed

This performance takes place in the main tribune (where you may have watched the evening Kynren show) and is a professional equestrian performance featuring stunning horses and experienced riders. Expect a fast paced performance with plenty of wow moments, thrilling stunts and elite riding.

Victorian Imaginariums

This is something a little different and rather than a seated show, it's a self-guided walk through one way maze. As you wind your way around the maze you'll meet different Victorian characters along the way.

You can also visit Birch & Birch which has been located from Flambards Village in Cornwall. This traditional Victorian shop features marble counter tops, traditional shelving, coffee grinders, cheese cutters and authentic packaged goods.

Tickets

Tickets are currently priced at £30 per adult & £20 per child (aged 4 - 17 years). Children aged 3 and under go free when sat on an adults knee (make sure you select the adult with an under 3 ticket).

You can add on-site parking onto your booking or shuttle bus tickets from Bishop Auckland Market Place. Motorhomes are permitted but there is no overnight parking.

Please note, standard tickets to The Storied Lands to not include the evening performance of Kynren. However you can book combined tickets and enjoy both experiences on Saturdays plus Friday 21 August and Friday 3 September.

This sounds absolutely fantastic and how brilliant to have this right here in the North East.
