10+ Glamping Holidays to try in Northumberland

*this article was originally posted in January 2018 and updated in March 2023

Glamping is a holiday trend that started around 8-10 years ago and shows no sign of slowing down. Google searches for the term have increased year on year and I can certainly see why.

We LOVE a glamping break - you have all of the benefits of camping with none of the bad parts and when done right, it can feel like a luxury break too.

Everyone knows that Northumberland is my favourite destination so I've put together a little guide featuring some of the best places to glamp in our region.

These sites are perfect for a cheeky short staycation for locals and work equally well hosting those travelling from further afield.

Some are perfect for couples, others are better for families and some even come with their own hot tubs! Many are pet-friendly too.

Let me know if you've tried any of the sites mentioned or if I've inspired you to give glamping a go.

The Living Area has comfy corner seats and a smart TV and wifi.

There is a short trail around the nearby fields and woods which includes fairy houses in the trees which are very cute.

  11. We love glamping! You've really found a nice variety of places in this round up, they really can vary we've found but sometimes it's nice to rough it and sometimes it's nice to splash out a bit. We've not yet stayed in a yurt but I really want to!

  12. So many ideas here Sam! We love glamping too, nothing quite beats being out under the stars (but having the darkness that a tent just can't give in the mornings for keeping the kids from waking up at the crack of dawn!). Not tried sleeping in a yurt yet but it's certainly on our travel wish list.
