5 Reasons I Love Gosforth Civic Theatre (+ our top picks for 2026)

GCT is an independent arts space programming high quality theatre, live music and events. It certainly has a piece of my heart. Please do read on to discover what's on offer. There's something for everyone!

5 Reasons I Love Gosforth Civic Theatre

1 - It's Easy To Get To

I’m pretty sure GCT is the easiest theatre in the North East to get to. It’s conveniently located next door to Regent Centre Metro Station and Bus Stop plus a large Multi-Story Car Park. There are two Blue Badge Parking Bays just outside of the theatre.
♿2 - It’s Accessible

The venue is fully accessible with wheelchair spaces available in the theatre & an accessible toilet on site. Carers go free, the bars are low-level & sensory requirements have been taken into consideration (eg no hand dryers in the loos).
🫶 3 - It’s Inclusive

Did you know, GCT is the only theatre in the UK that is founded & guided by people with learning disabilities. It’s a unique social enterprise & every penny you spend on tickets, venue hire, food & drinks is used to provide opportunities for people with learning disabilities.
☕ 4 - There’s a Dog Friendly Cafe/Bar On-Site (Open to All)

The Cafe Bar is open to all and a fab place to catch up on work / with friends over brunch, lunch or coffee. The central locations next to a Metro and Bus Station is ideal and it's much more peaceful than the city centre.
Expect fresh seasonal food, good coffee, baby change & child-friendly facilities including toys, books, highchairs and colouring plus free WiFi. There’s a dog-free zone if dogs aren’t your thing.
