(*or anywhere in North Yorkshire)
A few people have asked about this in our FB group this week so I thought I’d put together a post sharing my favourite spots.
I’ve visited Scarborough 30+ times and below you’ll find out favourite tried & tested places to stop with kids (+ usually dog) in tow. Please always check opening hours before heading out.
1 - Danby Lodge National Park Centre (YO21 2NB)
Expect picnic tables, a lovely playground, toilets, cafe, nature walks & a visitor centre with free activities including building blocks & a climbing wall.2 - Falling Foss Tea Garden (YO22 5JD)
This beautiful hidden tea garden is accessible via a 15 minute walk from the car park through woodland which is uneven in parts so not the most accessible. It feels magical though with waterfall views, beautiful homemade cakes and sandwiches, covered seating, firepits and play equipment for children.
3 - Jack & Jill at Scaling Dam (TS13 4TP)
This coaching inn includes a popular tea room which seats 100 people across several spaces + an outdoor area with a takeaway kiosk, seating, adventure playground and table tennis as well as beautiful reservoir views.
4 - Whitby Brewery (Y022 4JR)
There is parking outside or next door at Whitby Abbey Car Park so no need to climb the 199 steps to get here. Expect a child-friendly atmosphere, lovely pizzas served fresh from the pizza oven, a range of drinks and fantastic views of Whitby Abbey next door.5 - Sutton Bank Visitor Centre (YO7 2EH)
Located at the top of the bank, this visitor centre is a nice place to stop with a cafe, natural play area, visitor centre with free activities and it’s a short walk to Britain’s Best View if you need a leg stretch.
