Stockeld Park - New Indoor Play Area Opens

Stockeld Park regularly pops up as a recommendation for somewhere to visit in our Days Out Facebook Group and it features in our 'Places to stop off when driving South' blog post. When I heard they had expanded and added a new attraction, I thought it was worth sharing.

The new £3.5million Playhive opens to the public on 23 July and tickets are on sale now. The idea was to create an all-weather space where adults and children could play, explore and learn together.

The 20,000 square foot Playhive has four main zones to explore:

  • Space
  • Aeronautical
  • Subaquatic
  • Jungle

Trying to move away from a 'traditional' soft play, this new attraction is set to be one of the largest of it's kind in Europe.

There is a 33 foot tower tower in the centre of the Playzone with bridges connecting each area. You can expect:

  • A dedicated toddler zone
  • Gigantic slides
  • Pizzeria
  • Four themed play areas

The Playhive is available to book for visits from 23 July 2022 as a supplement to the main park. To include entry to the Playhive, you will need to book an 'Adventure Park + Playhive' ticket.

This is available as a 'fixed time' ticket (gives 1.5 hours entry to the Playhive at a set time) or an 'anytime' ticket which means you can visit at any time during the day.

If you book adventure park only tickets, this does not include entry to the Playhive.

Children must be accompanied in the Playhive and shoes are not permitted (bring socks!).

Find out more and book here.

Under 2s go free, registered carers of disabled guests can visit for free and Adventure Park + Playhive tickets £19.50 (fixed time) or Adventure Park + Playhive £23 (anytime).

Please remember, these prices are not just for the Playhive - they include entry to the main Stockeld Park Adventure Park too which is a lovely outdoor space with lots to see and do (they have a Superhero event running across the summer too).

Stockeld Park is around a 1 hour 30 minute drive from Newcastle, pet dogs are not permitted, you can read their accessibility info & FAQs here.

It is possible to visit by public transport, the #7 Harrogate - Wetherby - Leeds bus stops outside the park gates.
