15+ North East Pubs & Restaurants Where You Can Pre-Book An Outdoor Table

North East Pubs & Restaurants Where You Can Pre-Book An Outdoor Table

For those who are not ready to dine inside a pub/restaurant yet, I asked my Facebook & Instagram followers for some of the best places in the North East you can pre-book an outdoor table.

Please note, this post was first published in Summer 2020 and protocols may have now changed. For a more up-to-date post, please click here to read my guide to North East Pubs and Cafes with heated or covered outdoor spaces which was published in October 2020 or check out the Outdoor Dining section of my Instagram highlights for new places updating outdoor space in Spring 2021.

Some procedures may change so always check details directly before booking / heading out to avoid disappointment. Pre-booking is important to me as I would hate to turn up somewhere and for it to be busy / us to have to hang around for a table etc....

North East Pubs & Restaurants Where You Can Pre-Book An Outdoor Table

The Beehive Pub, Earsdon

The Beehive in Eardson is a fantastic country pub serving homemade food. They have lots of outdoor space in their beer garden and secret garden. Their Facebook page states you can pre-book tables outside by calling 0191 252 9352.

This summer, there is a pop-up beach in Jesmond behind Holy Hobo (near As You Like It). They claim to be Newcastle's biggest beer garden. Expect a pop-up beach, street food stalls, market stalls and more. They are family & dog friendly too. Pre-book here.

Rileys Fish Shack, Tynemouth

I absolutely love what Rileys are doing. You pre-book (and pre-pay) a deckchair on the beach for £25 per person online and will have your own little area with a small table/parasol/fire pit (depending on the weather and time of day). Kids are welcome to bring a blanket and sit on the beach to keep costs down. You then have £25 per person to spend on gorgeous seafood. I think this will probably be the first thing we do.

The Blackbird, Ponteland

STACK, Newcastle

South Causey Inn, County Durham

South Causey Inn has caused a bit of controversy with this one as they are the only venue I can see in the North East who are charging for outdoor seating. Their bubble pods do look lovely and seem to offer a premium experience, but be aware there is a charge of £20-£30 which is not redeemable against food/drinks. Call 01207 235555 to book.

Outside Tables For Walk-Ins

Many of the places mentioned above will also accept walk-ins. Readers also suggested the following options but as far as I can see, their outdoor dining cannot be pre-booked.  Might be an option if you are passing and spot an empty table though.

For more options, make sure you check out my guide to North East Beer Gardens with play areas here.

Please note, this post does need updating and some play areas may not be open - always check up to date details with venues direct before setting off.
