Our day trip to the lakes - photo diary

I've only travelled to the lake district maybe 3-4 times in my whole entire life which is actually shocking! A few weeks ago we decided to visit for the day and I was pleasantly surprised to find it took less than 2 hours to drive from our home in South East Northumberland to the North Lakes. We left home at a respectable 9:30am and arrived in the lakes at around 11:30am - just in time to enjoy a guided tour of The Lakes Distillery followed by a delicious lunch at Bistro at the Distillery (where the chef consultant is Terry Laybourne) before exploring the nearby lakes of Bassenthwaite and Derwentwater plus the quaint town of Keswick. We left at 4pm feeling like we had enjoyed a proper break from normal life. I hope you like our photographs.

I think you'll agree the lakes are pretty picture perfect. Our trip has definitely inspired me to visit more often and we are already planning a visit in Autumn/Winter to stock up on some Christmas treats.
