The Best Spa in Northumberland (Breamish Valley Spa)

This is based on two visits in 2025 which we paid for ourselves. Please check with venue direct for the most up to date information when booking.

The Best Spa in Northumberland (Breamish Valley Spa)

Breamish Valley Spa received an extensive refurbishment in 2025 and in my opinion, is now hands down the best spa in Northumberland. It's the best in terms of service, facilities, food offering and the value it offers too (packages are available from just £35).

The only negative for me (and this is subjective as it depends on where you live) is that it's location is fairly rural and it's a bit of a drive for us / not really accessible by public transport. I can only imagine what it must be like having this on your doorstep!

I am fairly sure I've visited every spa in Northumberland and believe me when I say, this one is a spa you don't want to miss. It is peaceful with no sunbed wars with excellent poolside service and fantastic, modern and fresh facilities.

Breamish Valley Spa Location

Breamish Valley Spa is located in the gorgeous Northumberland Countryside between Glanton and Wooler. It's easy to get to by car and is around a 50 minute drive from Newcastle and there's a free car park.

It's not the easiest to get to by public transport - catch the 473 bus from Wooler, alight at Cawley View + a 27 minute walk. A taxi from Alnwick / Wooler is probably your best bet if you don't have a car.

There is the option to stay overnight - more on that later.

Breamish Valley Spa is located on the same site as Breamish Valley Cottages and The Bosk Restaurant / Wedding or Celebration Setting. A friendly, family-owned venue with fantastic facilities.

Spa Packages from just £35

Now prices and packages do change with time so do check direct for the most up to date info, but at the time of writing this, spa packages start at just £35 for 2 hour spa access with full access and towels and flip flops included. Perfect for a mini catch up or some time out.

There are packages with afternoon tea, meals and treatments too. We usually book the Afternoon Spa Experience which is £95 on a weekday and includes towel, robe and flip flop hire, a 45 minute treatment, 4 hours spa access and £25 food allowance to spend in The Bosk Restaurant next door for dinner. This is such a bargain and is around half the price of somewhere like Seaham, Matfen or Ramside.

You can check and book a full range of packages here: https://breamishvalley.try.be/

Outdoor Facilities at Breamish Valley Spa

If you hit lucky and visit on a sunny day, this spa gives proper holiday vibes with relaxing sun loungers and a courtyard that's a proper sun trap (do make sure you wear and bring sunscreen).

Facilities include a stunning heated outdoor hot tub, a spa garden with loungers, a sauna, ice bath and range of seating options.

Service at Breamish Valley Spa

The service at Breamish Valley Spa is second to none from the lovely welcoming receptionists to the fantastic therapists who use Neal's Yard products and provide blissful treatments to the spa hosts who will pop around taking drinks orders and check everything is ship-shape across the day.

You can order a range of drinks and snacks (including beers etc.. which aren't listed on the menu here) to enjoy around the pool. You can either add this to a tab or pay on ordering.

There's also a range of complimentary snacks and waters which you can help youself to.

Breamish Valley Spa is one where I feel they truly care about the customer experience and genuinely want you to have the best day.

Indoor Facilities at Breamish Valley Spa

I will admit, we usually spend most of our time here in the Spa Garden and ourdoor areas but there's a lot going on indoors too including a couple of indoor relaxation areas.

There's also an indoor heated pool, flatation experience (extra charge) and Finnish Sauna / Steam Room plus indoor jacuzzi. Loads of places to relax if the weather does take a turn or you need a break from the sunshine.

Post-Spa Dining at The Bosk

The Bosk Restaurant is located in a building directly next to the Spa and is where you'll dine if you book a package which includes an evening meal. You can also book a table here onto any package (for example you could book a 2 hour spa visit and also book a meal here). It's an absolutely stunning building and dining here always feels special.

On Fridays, they fire up the pizza oven in their garden and offer a special pizza menu - they're lovely.

And on other evenings you can enjoy a main menu - we recommend their sharing platter. Their Sunday Lunch receives rave reviews too. Do check that the restaurant is open and book ahead as they do close on selected dates and close for private events and weddings across the year too. You can check menus, availability and book here: https://www.breamishvalley.co.uk/the-bosk/

Accommodation at Breamish Valley Spa

If you'd like to stay overnight, you can choose from a range of cottages or B&B rooms and full access to the spa is included with your stay at no additional cost. Do note that one night stays are generally not available and minimum stays of 2 nights (B&B) / 3 nights (cottages off peak) apply.

The facilites at Breamish Valley are second to none and include a games room, adventure playground, tennis courts, restaurant/bar, croquet lawn, football pitch, ride on toys, crazy golf and more.

Or you can stay at their sister property The Roundhouses which are stunning 'Round Houses' with outdoor baths and incredible views just a short walk from Breamish Valley Spa and best of all, stays include spa access at no additional cost.
