A Day in Sirmione, Lake Garda

This is based on a visit in June 2024 which we paid for ourselves. Please check with venues direct for the most up to date pricing and info.

Many people warned us that Sirmione is super busy but it was only a short boat ride from where we were staying in Pescheria del Garda and there was a nice looking lakeside spa there which I thought wouldn't be too busy so we decided to risk it. I'm so pleased we did as it was a lovely day.

We caught the first ferry to Sirmione which got us there for around 10:20am and the caught the last ferry back which left at around 7pm (do check current timetables).

Simione Castle & Shopping

As you can see from the photos, it's really not that busy if you arrive on the first ferry. It's a lush place for a potter and we did some souvenier shopping.

Sirmione Castle is stunning and right by the port. You can pay to go inside but we weren't sure how we were going to be for time so we just walked around the outside. The Castle is 14th Century and I think you'll agree it's in fantastic condition!

Drinks at the Port

The sun was starting to really shine down so we ducked for some shade at one of the bars lining the harbour. Service is fantastic and you receive complimentary nibbles to accompany your drinks. We enjoyed espressos and a glass of local wine and just watched the world go by. Prices are cheaper than the UK and our wine and coffees were around a tenner in total.

Spa Time

We booked 5 hour spa access at Terme di Simone which is a lakeside themal spa just a short walk from the port. It was SO cheap compared to the UK - I think we paid £30 each.

This spa was fantastic with lots of facilities including an indoor thermal pool, whirlpool baths, sauna circuits, steam baths, roman bath, vascular circuit, finnish outdoor sauna, infinity pool, the journey of water relaxation area, outdoor thermal pools, loungers and more.

The spa is child-friendly too (kids are not permitted in all areas and seemed to spend most of their time in the largest outdoor pool).

Meal at Restaurant Pace

We didn't have anywhere booked and just stumbled across this place and managed to grab a stunning table right by the lake. You could watch the fish swimming below you and it was stunning.

I have since noticed this restaurant has mixed reviews but we absolutely loved it. All the meats and cheeses, unlimited bread, a bottle of local wine, pizza and seafood pasta plus dessert in this beautiful setting for around £80. We thought it was a bargain and will definitely return.

Sirmione was gorgeous and I would definitely recommend if you're planning a trip to Lake Garda. Here are some other places we visited during our trip:
