7 Pubs with Play Areas in Northumberland

When my children were under 8, a decent pub with a play area was the holy grail for me. Being able to relax in the sunshine with a small glass of wine as they played or finish a meal and actually hold a conversation with friends and family as the kids were entertained was a little piece of heaven. If you are out and about in Northumberland this year and find yourself looking for a pub with a play area, here are seven suggestions to try. The Hog's Head Inn, Alnwick

Conveniently located just off the A1, the Hog's Head Alnwick is a good option for a pub lunch / drinks in the sunshine after visiting nearby Alnwick Castle or Gardens or if travelling along the A1. Their current children's menu is 2 courses for £8 and includes favourites such as tomato soup and penne pasta. Woodhorn Grange, Ashington Woodhorn Grange has a fairly large play area inside. Find out more here. Willow Farm, Cramlington Willow Farm in Cramlington has a popular children's toy area inside their restaurant. Find out more here.

What About Older Kids?

If your kids have outgrown play areas, I highly recommend popping your favourite travel game in your bag and heading to your local for a few hours. It's a fab activity to enjoy with older kids / teens and if you stick to soft drinks, not too expensive either. Just make sure you check their U18s policy as some pubs require children to leave at a certain time. Need some pub game suggestions? Check out my recommendations here.
