Stump Cross Caverns Cavewoman Party

This is just a quick post to share some information I was sent through by a reader who attended a Cavewoman and Magician Party at Stump Cross Caverns in Pately Bridge and wanted to share their experience with others.

Stump Cross Caverns Cavewoman Party

Their photos certainly caught my eye so I am happy to share. Please note, I have not personally attended this so won't be able to help with any questions (please contact the venue direct if you need further info). This post is simply to raise awareness and a reader recommendation.

These special events run on selected dates across the year. The next date is 29 May at 2pm.

What you can expect:
  • Join Cavewoman and magician Rob for a guided tour of Stump Cross Caverns in the Yorkshire Dales
  • Followed by party games Cavewoman-style whilst enjoying a bite to eat whilst watching The Croods in the Cinema Room
  • All children receive a party bag

Here is what our reader had to say about the event:

" We went to Stump Cross Caverns at Pateley Bridge on Sunday for a cavewoman and magician party. It was excellent and well worth the money.

The cavewoman (who is also the owner) was brilliant and made sure all the children were happy and gave a brilliant tour of the caves.

My daughter loved her so much she went and sat on her knee to watch the movie.

The magician was really good and the children had him catching fairies all the way through.

The food was also delicious and they were very accommodating with any dietary requirements.

It was an excellent event and worth the drive from County Durham. My daughter is still talking about it now.

I would say it's perfect for families with children aged 8 and under "

Tickets for the Cavewoman Party are £30 per child (includes cave visit, cinema, food and party bag) and £20 per adult (includes cave visit, film and a hot drink).

Some top tips for visiting the caves:
  • Dress warmly with sensible flat footwear (wellies or trainers)

  • There are 65 steps down and 65 steps up, the temperature is 7C and the surface is unceven

  • Hardhats are provided and mandatory for all customers

  • No rucksacks to be worn and only front carriers are permitted for babies

  • There are no toilets in the caves (there are loos elsewhere)

  • The cavern is naturally narrow and low in some places. There is no wheelchair or pushchair access
  • Dogs (with the exception of assistance dogs) are not permitted in the caves but are welcome in the visitor centre / cafe

  • Dietary requirements can be catered for (if booking an event in advance - let them know at the time of booking).

The Cavewoman Party sounds like a fun way to experience the caves but if you wish to try something different, Stump Cross Caverns run a variety of evetns across the year including:

  • Ultraviolet Caves (daily)
  • Prehistroic Fossil and Fairy Door Trails (daily)
  • Yoga in the Caves
  • Underground Cream Tea

You can just enjoy a regular tour as well, these last around 40-50 minutes and are priced as follows:

  • £13 standard entry
  • £9 children aged 3-13 years (includes quiz trail and prize)
  • £2 infants 0-2 years (includes fairy door trail and prize)
  • FREE infants 0-2 years (without a trail/prize)

There is also a cafe onsite (you can reserve a table or dining pod in advance), a cinema room and you can bring your motorhome and pitch up for the night. Sounds like a great place.
