How to Host a Christmas Movie Premiere at Home

Christmas is going to be a little different for most of us this year. However I am more determined than ever to make it as magical as possible and to make the best out of a bad situation.

How to Host a Christmas Movie Premiere at Home

Christmas theatre and cinema plays a big part in our usual festivities and we will really miss our regular pantos and Christmas performances.

Something we can look forward to is The Christmas Chronicles : Part 2 which premiers on Netflix on 25 November.

The original Christmas Chronicles debuted on Netflix in 2018. This Netflix Original stars Kurt Russel as Santa and Goldie Hawn as Mrs Claus. The story shares the tale of a brother and sister duo who team up to save Christmas after crashing Santa's sleigh. The original is funny, modern & brilliant for all ages. Such a good watch (you can stream it on Netflix now).

The Christmas Chronicles : Part 2 returns a few years down the line when Kate is now a cynical teen and unwittingly re-united with Santa when a trouble maker threatens to cancel Christmas forever.

I can't wait! Check out the trailer below:

You can stream The Christmas Chronicles : Part 2 on Netflix from 25 November which is a Wednesday here in the UK. We absolutely love Netflix and wouldn't be without it. You can stream from £5.99 - £11.99 per month and there are no minimum terms / contracts.

There are usually quite a few Christmas films on Netflix in the build up to Christmas so if you don't subscribe, it might be worth doing so for 1-2 months in the run up to Christmas as a special treat (always read the t&cs before joining).

Anyway, we are going to make the occasion a little more special by hosting a Christmas Chronicles : Part 2 Movie Premiere at home. I imagine we will be the only guests and this may be our only Christmas party this year but you have got to take the wins when you can find them.

If you don't have Netflix, you could do this with any Christmas movie of your choice.

Set the Date & Send Invitations

We will be hosting our at-home premiere on the evening of 25 November. This is a Wednesday night (and a school night) so won't work for everyone but I like the idea of watching a premiere as it premieres. You could easily organise this for the following weekend if it works better.

I am going to send the kids their own invitation to the premiere - I might even post them. There are loads of templates and personalised invites online - try Etsy and Ebay for ideas or Pinterest if you fancy making them yourself. I love this one on Etsy which is available to purchase as a digital download.

Dress Code

We watch a lot of movies at home and we mostly like to lounge in our comfys / pjs. This time though, we are using the premiere as an excuse to dress up in our most fancy red carpet outfit.

Set the Scene with Props

You could go wild and spend loads on props if you wanted. We already have re-useable popcorn buckets which we use a lot, they will be filled with popcorn at the DIY popcorn stand.

Again, Ebay and Etsy are brilliant. You can buy Red Carper Runners for around a fiver which will help to set the scene. I also bought a Clapper Chalk Board and we might even set Harry's Green Screen up for some red carpet paparazzi photos (too much????)

Canapes

I have never been to a film premiere, but I imagine there will be lots of fancy canapes before / after. So before the movie starts, trays of Aldi / M&S's finest Christmas canapes will be on offer. Very fancy! Like I say, there will be no Christmas parties for us this year and this is the next best thing for us.

Drinks

I am sure film premieres are always accompanied by a glass or two of something fizzy. The grown ups will share a bottle of fizz and the kids a bottle of Shloer to toast the film's success.

Goody Bags

At the end of the evening, I am going to put together some little goody bags for the kids. Nothing too fancy - probably a new Santa hat, a Christmas Chronicles poster  and some chocolates.

Pop the date in your diary as something to look forward to (25 November). Hopefully there won't be anything in the next few months that will stop this one from happening.

Let me know if you fancy joining us and hosting your own Christmas Chronicles Premiere.
