Are you an indecisive traveller? Here are 4 ways to help you decide where to travel to next

*This is a collaborative post

I have a revelation. We have not made any travel plans for 2018! This is fairly shocking for us! Well actually, we do have a short mini break booked at the beginning of January with Acorn Leisure in Northumberland (got to have something to pull us out of the post-Christmas blues) but that's it. I do have a few ideas of where we'd like to visit in 2018. I'd love to take the kids on a European city break, we hope to *finally* visit Devon and Cornwall and fingers crossed for somewhere in the sun too. With so much choice and a whole entire world to explore, it can be difficult to finalise plans. With this in mind, today I'm sharing a few ideas to help you knuckle down plans and decide where you should visit in 2018.

Are you an indecisive traveller? Here are 4 ways to help you decide where to travel to next

1 - Use your name

I just love this online tool by Flight Centre which provides holiday inspiration based on your name. Using their database and basing the findings on actual customer bookings, the Travel Name Game will suggest the best place for you to visit based on your name. I've given this a go and New York is the destination recommended to me. Not somewhere I'd immediately think of to be honest but with cheap flights around my birthday in December, it could be an option! Apparently, Steve and Jack should both visit Bangkok, Harry should visit Sydney and Heidi Melbourne. Looks like I need to get saving! Try the Travel Name Game for yourself here and let me know the destination recommended to you.

2 - Let the kids decide

I love this idea by Five Adventurers - they have a tradition where they ask their children to spin a globe and wherever their finger ends up is where they travel to next year. This technique led to the family planning a pretty awesome adventure in Canada this summer.

3 - Work through a bucket list

One technique that we kind of stick to is the idea of a bucket list. Most years we will pick an amazing adventure to tick from our list. Whether this be a once in a lifetime trip to Florida, visiting Stonehenge or even sitting on the benches in Parliament, making a conscious effort to work through a list of places you really want to visit is something that works for us and ensures our holiday time is never wasted.

4 - Read travel blogs

Helen from Actually Mummy takes all of her travel inspiration from the blogs she reads. I would say this is definitely true for me and I've been inspired to take so many trips that I wouldn't necessarily have taken had I not read about it via a blog or lusted after Instagram pictures. If you're looking for new family travel blogs to read, look no further than this list.

I would love to hear how you decide where you're going to travel to next. I find the techniques people use rather fascinating. Also let me know if you use the Travel Name Game too and where it suggests you visit next......
