The Seaside town of Bognor Regis - what to do with kids

We spent a wonderful 5 days in Bognor Regis this October half term as part of our Butlin's Ambassador role. I knew there was going to be so much going on at Butlin's so we probably wouldn't be venturing far and I hadn't really researched the area we were staying. It turns out that Butlin's sits right on the beach and as the weather was unseasonably warm for October we spent a little part of every day walking along the beautiful sea front and fell a little bit in love with Bognor's charm.

Bognor Regis beach is a shingle beach but don't let this but you off - our children could spend HOURS looking for stones and throwing them into the sea.

There is a little ice cream kiosk about a 5 minute walk along the seafront from Butlin's - we all enjoyed a 99 cone with flake for £1.50 each.

I can't believe these photographs were taken in the last week of October! It looks like summer!

Along the sea front there is a small market, a few fairground rides for younger children, a fresh seafood stall and a few fish n chip shops. We bought some chips to share and walked along the pier where we had a chat with the people who were fishing there (and had a peak and what they'd caught). Fish and chips really do taste a lot better by the sea!

Fish n chips always taste better by the sea

The view from the pier - you can just about make out the Skyline Pavillion in the background

It only takes 5 minutes to walk but there is a mini train that runs from Butlin's to the bandstand for only £1 return. We loved it.

My son really wanted to watch the new Ninja Turtle film at half term and after a little research we found there was a small Picturedrome cinema in Bognor Regis town centre. This was about a 20 minute walk from Butlin's or £4 in a taxi.

The picturedrome is a grade II listed building with two screens both featuring dolby surround sound. I could not believe that tickets were only £2.50 per person Mon-Fri or £3.50 on a Saturday or Sunday for all films!!! What a bargain! You can book tickets online before you go and collect from the box office with your bankcard or reference number before the film starts. There is no allocated seating so make sure you get there early.

Bognor Regis is such a charming little seaside town and is definitely worth a short visit if you are in the area.
