There is no time like Christmas to get dressed up, gather the family together and spend the afternoon catching up over nice food and a few drinks. We try to book somewhere every year if we can and this year, Santa Sundays at South Causey Inn, County Durham caught my eye.
Santa Sundays run throughout December. It's just the normal restaurant menu (so no festive fayre) and you can only make reservations for 12 noon (after this it's walk in only). This suited us just fine though as not everyone in our party is a fan of Sunday lunch. The menu is extensive and covers two sides of A4. Kids meals are very reasonably priced at £5.95 and include a slush drink. The portions were huge and everything is homemade and the service was very good. You couldn't ask for more. South Causey Inn is the kind of pub you wish was your local.
The atmosphere at South Causey Inn is warm and cosy and perfect for family get togethers. Roaring fires keep the chill out and the restaurant and bar are beautifully decorated for the festive season. Santa Sundays include FREE entertainment for the family. There was a balloon modeller, face painter (although we didn't spot this), pony rides in the garden and visits from Santa and a Snowman who were handing out sweets. The kids could dip in and out of these activities between courses and it was a nice way to keep them entertained.
Obviously, a special occasion requires a special dress and Heidi was sent this beautiful party dress to wear. This 'Layla' dress is part of the Timeless collection by Paisley of London for Roco and I think it is a complete steal at just £34.99. What a bargain! The dress is beautiful with a white lace overlay, champagne dress and ivory ribbon sash. The mesh underskirt adds a nice bit of volume too and really makes the dress look special. Heidi's dress is fantastic quality and to look at it you would think it was worth more than double the price it's on sale for. We teamed it with these gorgeous pink patent leather shoes and a butterfly cardigan that Heidi already had in her wardrobe.
Heidi loved walking around the South Causey Gardens with her cousin Emily, saying hello to the various animals and posing for a few pics. I love how this dress naturally 'puffs out' and I can see Heidi wearing it to any summer garden parties we are invited to next year.
We would definitely recommend South Causey Inn for a family get together. Such a lovely pub!
Here are a few more pics of Heid's dress and shoes. I would highly recommend taking a peek at Roco's website for party, christening or flower girl outfits and accessories (they sell boys suits too). Their prices are so reasonable and standard delivery is free. I also love that Heidi's dress was sent in it's own dress bag which will help to keep it in perfect condition.
Disclosure | We were sent this dress and shoes in return for an honest review.
