Treetop Mini Golf at Metrocentre

Treetop Mini Golf is opening in the old Angry Birds Golf site on 6 October 2023. They promise two 18 hole indoor mini golf courses with a tropical jungle theme alongside a bar and cafe serving locally sourced treats and a photobooth.

I am planning on visiting during opening week and will share a video on Instagram. If you'd like a first look, make sure you're following North East Family Fun on Instagram here.

Here's what we know so far......

Do we Need to Book Treetop Mini Golf in Advance?

You can't pre-book - just turn up during opening hours. The exception to this is pre-arranged parties.

Treetop Mini Golf Metrocentre Opening Hours

Treetop Mini Golf opens on 6 October. Current opening hours are:

  • Monday-Wednesday 11am-10pm
  • Thursday & Friday 11am-11pm
  • Saturday 10am-11pm
  • Sunday 10am-10pm

As this is a new venue, they are subject to change so do check with venue direct for the most up to date hours before heading over.

What to Expect from Treetop Mini Golf

There are two indoor mini golf courses to choose from (both 18 hole). You can book to complete one or both at the same visit.

The Tropical Trail is suitable for all ages and skill levels and will take you through a rainforest with tropical theming and mysterious creatures.

You can swing by the Tree Fall Frogs where ribbets ripple across the water and the sounds of the rainforest chime. Putt through the bioluminescent branches of The Mystic Wood and pass enormous glowing roots as you weave your way to the mighty oracle.

The Ancient Explorer Trail is suitable for all ages and skill levels and will take you through a forgotten world with cryptic ruins and riddles.

Meet the Fabulous Scared Mask (who loves a catchphrase), slink through Viper Valley and manouvre around the Maraca Mambas before visiting the Shrine of Mabel the Monkey Queen.

Each course should last around 40 minutes.

If you play both courses at the same time, you can also try the bonus 19th hole which comes with the chance to win a free game.

At the end of your game, there is a FREE photobooth where you can take a free photo (which will be emailed to you) as a souvenier. I love this idea and it's a fab little marketing ploy too.

Is Treetop Mini Golf Accessible?

Yes, both courses are fully accessible for both manual wheelchairs and pushchairs. Free storage lockers are also available.

How Much does Treetop Mini Golf Cost?

The venue is cashless so make sure you bring your bank card / contactless.

Standard walk-in prices are as follows:

18 holes (one course)

  • 0-5 years |  £5.50
  • Ages 6+ | £11
  • Student (with ID) | £9.50
  • 60+ | £9.50
  • Family of 4 (inc at least one under 12) | £32.50
36 holes (both courses)

  • 0-5 years |  £7.75
  • Ages 6+ | £16
  • Student (with ID) | £13.50
  • 60+ | £13.50
  • Family of 4 (inc at least one under 12) | £51.50

It's certainly not cheap but pretty much in line with other similar venues. I do find it weird that you have to pay for babies though so hope this is just a typo on their website!

If you're keen to visit but don't want to spend that much, make sure you follow them on Social Media and sign up to their mailing list as usually, venues like this do start releasing special offers once the buzz of them opening has died down.

Any Special Offers or Discounts?

Early Bird Golf  - visit between 10am and 12noon on a Sunday or 11am-1pm Monday-Friday and play both courses for the price of one. This deal includes school holidays and bank holidays.

Blue Light Card Holders receive a 10% discount.

Carers receive a 50% discount.

What's On the Menu?

I am so sorry, I previously shared that there would be an on-site pizzeria and now know this is not the case. However, Treetop Mini Golf is working with lots of local supplers at the Thirsty Toucan and Jungle Buzz Cafe including Full Circle Brew Co, Pink Lane Coffee Collective and Cake Stories.
  • Thirsty Toucan - expect hand-brewed beers, mocktails, cocktails and more. You cannot take drinks on the course with you, the bar is more somewhere to visit before/after/between courses.

  • Jungle Buzz Cafe - exepct local coffe, cakes, soft drinks, hot chocolates and more.

Is Treetop Mini Golf Suitable for Children?

Yes, all ages are welcome. Ages 12 and under need to be accompanied by an adult in their group. Ages 13+ can play unaccompanied. Highchairs are available in the bar area and the course is accessible for pushchairs.

Are there Quiet Sessions?

Quiet sessions take place on the second Sunday of each month from 9am-11am. More info about how to access these will follow so do keep an eye on their social media for announcements. Expect reduced music/background noise, no strobe lighting and a calmer experience all round. Anyone who would benefit from a quiet session is welcome to attend.
