11 Family-Friendly New Year's Eve Parties & Events across North East England 2018/19

What to do on New Year's Eve if you have kids? It's a question I'm asked a lot so I decided to do a little research and answer it. Here are 10 family-friendly events happening across North East England on 31 December that will help you to see the New Year in with style. Let me know what you're up to in the comments:

1 - New Years Eve Family Event - Village Hotel Newcastle

Expect kids party games, a buffet and disco at this family-friendly party at the Village Hotel which runs from 7pm until 2am.

2 - Pantomime

If you're looking for a family night out with lots of laughs, why not plan an early evening trip to the panto? Theatre Royal, Northern Stage, The Customs House, Whitley Bay Playhouse, Gala Theatre, Tyne Theatre & Opera House and Sunderland Empire all have seats available on New Year's Eve.

3 - New Year's Eve Family Event in Pemberton's Carvery at Ramside Hall

This relaxed celebration will include a traditional carvery meal and resident disco until 2am. All are welcome.

4 -The Family New Year's Eve Bash at Gosforth Civic Theatre

This event is a little different as it runs from 3pm-6pm with a special New Year's Countdown. Perfect for families with little ones who won't last until midnight. There will be a DJ, drinks, snacks, crafts and even deals on Prosecco.

5 - New Years Eve Family Party, Holiday Inn Washington

Get together with family and friends to see in the New Year with this family-friendly event. Expect a buffet, children's entertainment, face painting, balloon modelling and disco from 6:30pm.

6 - New Year's Eve at Willow Farm, Cramlington
With a live DJ playing until late, a bar open until 12:30am and prices starting at just £5.99 for children including food, Willow Farm looks like a good option for families.

7 - New Year's Eve Skating at Life Science Centre

Pre-book a New Year's Eve outdoor ice skating session at Life Science Centre. Available from 10am-6pm.

8 - Seven Stories New Year's Eve: Party Around the World

Another daytime event for little ones who won't make it to midnight, Seven Stories is hosting a party celebrating New Year customs and traditions around the world. Expect themed story-lines, crafts and activities.

9 - Family New Year's Eve Party at Blue Flames

The annual New Year's Eve Family Party at Blue Flames is back. Exact details are yet to be announced but last year there was a disco, buffet, bouncy castle and more from 7pm until late.

10 -  Family New Year's Break at Slaley Hall

Enjoy a 2 or 3 night stay with the family including a child-friendly buffet in Hadrian's Brasserie and/or disco and entertainment at the Slaley family party.

11 - Tar Bar'l Festival

Finally, a reader recommended the Tar Bar'l Festival in Allendale. 45 local men carry whisky barrels filled with burning hot tar through the town in one of the most spectacular fire festivals still practised today. I haven't been myself but I'm assured it's fine for kids and Visit Northumberland states on their website that children are welcome. With dancing and music in the streets, it sounds like a party not to be missed.

Let me know what you're up to this New Year and if you know of any other family-friendly events, share the details as a comment and I'll update the post when I can.
