It's no secret that Dalton Park is our favourite shopping outlet. I just love the range of stores available - there's everything you need from a Cadburys outlet to Gap, Denby, Ernest Jones, Levis, M & S and Radley. We especially like their range of outdoor and camping stores. Steve also recommends heading to Dalton Park when you need a new suit.

As much as we love Dalton Park, we did feel their options for dining out were lacking. We resorted to KFC during our last visit (not really recommended if I'm honest) and couldn't wait for their new restaurants and cinema to open.

Dalton Park is super family-friendly and my three never moan about a trip here. As well as the free play park, Dalton Park run a fantastic programme of events (especially during the holidays) and we love the sound of their 'Christmas Launch' on 12th November which will see Santa and his real reindeer parade through the shopping complex. Metro Radio will be providing music, fun and games and there is going to be a big countdown to the Christmas light switch on and fireworks at 6:30pm. All at no cost! Sounds fab.

There are now three new family-friendly restaurants to head to if you need a break from shopping/playing in the park. As well as Mcdonalds, KFC and Spud-U-Like plus a few coffee shops, diners can now also choose from Pizza Express, Frankie & Benny's and Prezzo. These chains provide good value for families:-
  • Frankie & Benny's | Children's menu from £4.25 for a main course, side, dessert and refillable soft drink
  • Prezzo | Children's menu from £3.99 for three courses and a drink
  • Pizza Express | 3 courses for £6.95 including a bambinoccino drink
Top tip - Sign up to these restaurant's mailing list as they often send discount vouchers and offers.

We let the kids pick where to head for lunch and they just love Frankie & Benny's so it was always going to be here. The atmosphere is perfect for families and at £4.25 for 2 courses and a refillable drink you really can't complain at the prices.

The kids always love the activity packs they are provided with at F&B's and I was secretly smug that they were doing something educational during half term.

I also like how kids can choose a 'kids cocktail' as part of the children's menu and it's refillable at no extra cost. Frankie & Benny's is also a fab place to catch up with the girls before a movie - Happy Hour cocktails are just £3.50 Sunday-Thursday between 5-7pm.

Steve and I ordered from the lunch menu which is very budget friendly at £6.95 for a main course and £2.50 for a starter or dessert. I ordered the fish and chips which I immediately regretted when I spotted Steve's Calzone - I'll definitely be ordering this next time.

All children's meals come with a free side of vegetables, beans or salad which is a good way to sneak some extra nutritian into them.

Jack and Heidi LOVE the ice cream candy shop dessert from F&B's. It's their absolute favourite. Available for a £2.50 supplement, I think it is well worth the extra cash. Children can pick 2 flavours of ice cream and are then given a jug of chocolate sauce and bottles of various sweets to make their own creation. You are also given your own pick n mix bag to take any leftover sweets home which is perfect to sneak into the cinema next door if you are catching a movie afterwards.

The new Cineworld cinema at Dalton Park

After lunch, we had booked tickets to see Trolls at the newly opened Cineworld next door. I've never been to a Cineworld cinema before but have to say, I was impressed. They have some fab deals including unlimited cinema viewing from just £17.40 per month, movies for juniors at the bargain price of just £2 plus 2 for 1 tickets with Meerkat Movies on a Tuesday or Wednesday.

As this cinema is a brand new addition to Dalton Park it feels very futuristic and features the latest technology. The kids loved this ticket collection point downstairs.

Everyone knows that cinema concessions are expensive and we do try to avoid if we can but even I will admit there are some offers that are too good to resist at Cineworld including popcorn, capri sun and milky ways stars from just £2.50 for kids.

I was also impressed with the seats at Cineworld. All brand new, comfortable and with lots of leg room as standard.

Trolls Movie Review

Oh my goodness, Trolls was just the best! The whole family (including Harry & Steve) absolutely adored it. It is such a feel-good film with lots of singing & dancing with a lovely message about friendship. It doesn't feel too childish either and we loved the twists on modern pop songs and the jokes that made us grown ups smile. If you need cheering up, you MUST see Trolls. It is one of the best films we've seen that the whole family has enjoyed. I need to buy the soundtrack now! Here's the trailer:-

Shopping at Dalton Park

Of course we couldn't leave Dalton Park without a little retail therapy. I picked up a pack of 12 Christmas Yankee candles for just £12.50. I've just checked & the same set is over £25 on Amazon so my find was a real bargain.

Steve has been looking for a Stag themed cushion and spotted the perfect one for just £10 (reduced from £25) and the kids of course had to visit the Cadburys outlet and pick up some treats for Halloween.

With unlimited free parking, a range of restaurants, a cinema, a very good selection of outlet shops, a play park and a lovely programme of events, we just can't get enough of Dalton Park. We'll be heading back soon (minus the kids) to pick up some bits and bobs for Christmas. Follow me on Snapchat (NEFamilyFun) if you'd like to see what we buy.
