Beauty and the Beast does not open until 2nd December though so when I spotted that The Nutcracker would be visiting in November, I knew it would be the perfect way to get into the Christmas spirit.
The highly acclaimed Russian State Ballet and Opera House will be appearing at Tyne Theatre and Opera House for one night only on Tuesday 15th November with an unforgettable family oriented production of beloved Christmas classic The Nutcracker.
I have decided that this is going to be a perfect introduction to the wonderful world of ballet for Heidi and I have booked tickets for Heidi, myself and my mum so it will be a proper girls night out.
I first watched The Nutcracker a few years ago. It tells the story of Marie, a rather sad little girl, whose godfather Drosselmeyer gives her a nutcracker doll as a present on Christmas Eve, which turns into a prince.
When midnight strikes, the world turns all magical in the wintry glitter of Christmas Eve. Toys come alive, the Mouse-king and his mouse-army battle with the Nutcracker Prince and we travel through the Land of Snow to an enchanted place where the magic really begins.
Snow flurries, sweets, princes, magic, love, victories and defeats, and Tchaikovsky’s rousing score, are just some of the ingredients that will be brought together by the renowned Russian State Ballet.
I am also super excited that the ballet will be joined by a 30 piece grand orchestra - what a treat!
The Nutcracker is going to be the perfect way to get into the Christmas spirit with my little girl and I really can't wait. I would recommend for families with children aged 5+, as a romantic date idea for a couple or for a girls night out with a difference.
The Nutcracker visits Tyne Theatre & Opera House on Tuesday 15 November. Tickets are available via the Tyne Theatre & Opera House website from £22 and if you buy 10, one person goes free. You can also buy tickets from the Tyne Teatre & Opera House box office (Monday - Friday 10am - 3:30pm).
Let me know if you've watched The Nutcracker or are planning on buying tickets this year.
