Christmas Days Out for Teens in North East England

A few people have asked for ideas for Christmas days out ideas for teens so I thought I would put a little post together. Don't forget to check out my guide to what's on for kids and guide to Christmas markets too .

Teens can be fickle and one day might say they'd like to do one of these activities and then the next decide they are too mature for this kind of thing. It's a tricky time when trying to plan festive days out and not all of these suggestions may be right for your family. Hopefully you can find some inspiration in this post though.

Some teens (like Dee) love visiting Christmas Markets. There are LOADS taking place across the North East this year (see this post for a big list of North East Christmas Markets).

Watch Die Hard at Tyneside Cinema

Some (not me) would say this is the greatest film of all time so where better to watch than on the big screen. Suitable for ages 15+. Find out more and book here.

The World Cup coincides with the build up to Christmas this year. If you're looking for somewhere you can watch the match with U18s, here is a list of child-friendly venues showing the world cup

Light Trails

Some teens may still enjoy a light trail and there are a few different ones to choose from in the North East including Nightfall in Middlesbrough, Christmas Lights at Gibside and Alnwick Garden Winter Light Trail.

Christmas Shopping at the Metrocentre

My teens love a little after school trip to the Metrocentre for some shopping and tea. It's a good opportunity for them to give Santa some ideas too.

Christmas Mocktails in Newcastle

Lots of bars offer mocktails now and some even have Christmas specials. I recommend checking out The Alchemist for the wow factor.

Ice Skating - Various Locations

Teens can always be tempted to a local cafe for a hot chocolate with marshmallows. I recommend the insta-worthy hot chocolates at Proven Doughnuts or Hotel Chocolat Cafe at intu Metrocentre/Teesside Park. Check out my guide to hot chocolates here.

A Festive City Shopping Break

Over the past few years we have enjoyed some fab city breaks over the festive period including Leeds, York, Liverpool and Edinburgh. It is nice to get a change of scenery and try a new Christmas market/shopping centre.
