5 of the Best Family Activity Holidays in Scotland

I absolutely adore Scotland and it's a place I'd love to explore more of in the next few years. So far I've only made it to Edinburgh, Dundee, Loch Ness and Glasgow and I know there is so much more to explore and discover. I think an excellent way to do this with older kids is to try a family activity holiday and today I am sharing 5 of the best I've found. Let me know if you fancy trying one of these breaks with your family:

5 of the Best Family Activity Holidays in Scotland

An Island Escape at Raasay House

Raasay House is perfect for families who want to get away from it all in beautiful surroundings and enjoy a range of activities in the Inner Hebrides. The island is just 14 miles long and 4 miles wide and provides a peaceful escape with plenty to do. Their all-inclusive Full Activity Holiday includes lots of activities ranging from sea kayaking to sailing, abseiling and rock-climbing. There's lots of space on the estate to 'let kids be kids' and if the weather's not too good, you can help yourself to board games or play pool in the games room. There's also a stunning spa (with children's swimming times available), walking trails and junior golf. With two restaurants on-site and lots to discover in the local area too, Cameron Lodges are perfect for families looking for that perfect mix of relaxation, pampering and activities. Enjoy a journey along the Caledonian Canal in the Scottish Highlands with this unique activity holiday for families who enjoy a slower pace. It is recommended that children are aged 7+ to get the most from the experience and children under 12 will receive a 25% discount. Life on board includes all meals, activities, tea and coffee and guests can try sailing, walking tours, biking, canoeing, wildlife spotting, music and ceilidhs. A Bargain Weekend of Fun Activities at Galloway Activity Centre

Galloway Activity Centre provides unique accommodation (check out their Mongolian Yurts) with a nice range of activities on the banks of Loch Ken. Activities are suitable for all ages and abilities and include laser tag, archery, sailing, paddle boarding and even a wobbly water park and water slide. I love that this place doesn't take itself too seriously and looks like lots of fun. You can stay for as little as two days at Galloway Activity Centre and prices start from just £180 per person including all activities, tuition, meals and accommodation. Sounds like a bit of a bargain to me. Find out more here: www.lochken.co.uk

Forest Holidays in Scotland are perfect for those families who enjoy the privacy of a log cabin in the woods with lots of activities to enjoy in the immediate vicinity. Families are very well catered for here with bike hire, family-friendly trails and lots of child-friendly activities including forest survival skills, night vision walks and young ranger sessions. There's also the opportunity to try a new sport such as archery and canoeing and it's all set to the beautiful landscape of Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park. There are just 40 log cabins on site and some come with their own hot tubs too. Find out more here: www.forestholidays.co.uk/ardgartan-argyll

  1. I really really want to explore more of Scotland this year, we've hardly been which just seems so silly when it's so close!
