Birthday Parties at Whitehouse Farm in Northumberland | What to expect & review

*This is a collaborative post

We love visiting Whitehouse Farm in Northumberland and every couple of years we tend to gather our nearest and dearest together and enjoy a spring day out at the farm in celebration of Heidi's birthday. I honestly don't know who enjoys our trips more - the kids or the grown-ups! This year there was going to be around 20 of us visiting in celbration of Heidi's 8th birthday and after a little research, I realised that it was actually better value to book a Whitehouse Farm Little Farmer's Party.

The Little Farmer's Party is priced at £11.95 per child and includes:
  • A private animal handling session for your party
  • A private tractor ride
  • A party tea for the children
  • Use of a party room
  • Unlimited jugs of sugar-free orange and blackcurrant juice
  • A party host
  • Two adults are admitted free of charge with the party child and then one adult is admitted free of charge per party guest. Additional adults are charged at a discounted rate of £6.95 per adult.

Considering regular weekend admission costs £9.95 per adult and £8.95 per child, you actually make a saving if you book a party.

Little Farmer Party at Whitehouse Farm - Planned Activities

Planned activities last for one hour and commence as soon as your party begins (available time slots are usually 10:30am, 11:30am, 12:30pm, 1:30pm, 2:30pm or 3:30pm). I would recommend booking an early time slot so you can make the most of your day. We were directed to the party room opposite the cafe on arrival where our lovely party host greeted us and explained the day. Once all of our guests had arrived, it was straight into the petting barn for an animal handling session.

Just as an FYI there was also a Superhero event happening on the day of Heidi's party which is why they are all dressed up. More about that later.

Our animal expert talked with the children about the various animals, explained how to hold and stroke them and gave us little fun facts about them too. All of the children found holding and stroking the animals to be adorable and there were lots of smiles.

After handling 4-5 animals, our group was taken to a hand washing station before heading over to our personal tractor ride. This is exclusive for your party (although sometimes it can't happen if the weather's bad) and so much fun as you all ride through the farmer's fields together. It is especially good at this time of year as you drive past lots of newborn lambs who are super cute.

Little Farmer Party at Whitehouse Farm - Party Food

After an hour's worth of activities, you are escorted back to the party room where a party buffet will have been set up for the children. We were impressed with the spread and it was suitable for all ages. There were tuna, cheese, ham and egg mayo sandwiches, crisps, cheese chunks, cocktail sausages, chicken nuggets, homemade cakes, cherry tomatoes, cucumber and salad plus jugs of sugar-free cordial. The room is decorated with party decorations to add to the occasion.

The above food is all included in the price of your party. If you'd like to feed the grown-ups too, you can order a variety of additional party platters or flasks of tea and coffee from just £6.99 (see here for details). We weren't organised enough to pre-order (I would recommend doing this in future) so a few grown-ups popped along to the cafe and ordered a sandwich and their own hot drinks to bring into the party room which was easy enough to do.

Birthday cakes are not provided at Whitehouse Farm but they are happy for you to bring your own along and will dim the lights and bring the cake in for you for everyone to sing Happy Birthday when you're ready. Heidi picked a classic caterpillar cake.

After the party, the staff will box any leftover food up for you to take home and store it for you until you're ready to leave which is a nice touch. If the party room is not being used by anyone else that day, you are able to lock any belongings in there too. After your food and planned activities, you are free to explore the rest of the farm. There is SO much to do and it's very easy to get your money's worth and stay for a full day. Here are our highlights:

As it was superhero day at Whitehouse Farm, we joined in with some superhero party games and competitions. This was a special one off event with Hopscotch Entertainment and lots of fun. I'd recommend following Whitehouse Farm's Facebook Page here to keep up to date with news of future special events.

If you can stand it, we highly recommend pegging your nose and walking through the pig sty - they are so cute!

As we visited in the springtime, we were able to meet lots of baby animals and there were bottle feeding sessions with the lambs throughout the day too.

You can purchase bags of animal food at the farm's entrance for 50p and feed the sheep and goats which is always fun for both grown-ups and kids. Watch out for those cheeky goats though, they love to try and steal your full bag of food!

The kids love running through the little maze (not me) and there's a Birds of Prey section on the farm with various flying sessions throughout the day. You can't leave without meeting the owls - they are beuatiful.

Randomly, goat brushing was an activity on offer on the day of our visit too - Heidi and Jack loved giving this goat a little pamper.

There is a large range of small animals and reptiles to visit with talks and handling sessions scheduled throughout the day. Look out for the snakes and tarantulas in the reptile house!

Oh and there are even some cute little Marmosets. I swear I could watch these cheeky chaps all day.

It's not all about the animals at Whitehouse Farm though, there are lots of other activities to keep you entertained too including trampolines, bouncy castles, go-karts, tractors, tyre slides, golf frisbee, soft play and a good outdoor play area. The farmer's den soft play can be exclusively hired from 4:30pm on weekdays and 5pm on weekends and school holidays for up to 40 children for just £100. You can add food/animal handling sessions onto this too.

And finally before we left we caught the end of a Meerkat talk and feeding time. Aren't they cute.

A Farmer's Den Party is available for a minimum of 10 children. The total cost for 10 children and 11 adults is £119.50 which works out at just £5.69 per person. Considering this includes farm admission, a private animal handling session, a tractor ride and party food for the kids plus all of the regular fun that Whitehouse Farm has to offer, I think it is superb value and I'm not sure you'll find a better value party anywhere else in the North East.

There is an upgrade package available for £14.95 per child which includes a Whitehouse Farm party bags and a £5 gift voucher for the birthday child to spend in the farm gift shop too.

I don't think Heidi could have asked for a better birthday. Everyone had such a lovely day and Whitehouse Farm is suitable for all ages from babies and toddlers up to teens, adults and grandparents. I can definitely recommend both a day out here for all generations and their birthday party packages if you're celebrating a special occasion.

  6. You cant beat a farm party, our party days are over now sad times. But my faves were the farm parties the children used to stay so much calmer because of the animal x
