MOKURU | a new fidget toy craze to hit the UK that everyone's talking about & is the perfect travel toy for summer 2017

Fidget spinners - have they had their day? I know my three went through a phase of being OBSESSED with them a few months ago and they were the talk of the playground but like all playground fads, it had to come to an end and our fidget spinners are now sitting redundant on my work desk. There's always something new to replace them though and it looks very likely that the new craze of the summer is going to be MOKURU.

MOKURU is launching in the UK today and my advice would be to grab one whilst you can. They're available through Amazon or at Smyths (please be aware of fakes) at pocket money prices.

Already a huge hit in Japan, the handheld wooden toys were originally designed to test an individual's balance and focus. Crafted out of beechwood, the toys have been perfectly engineered to flip and spin and the opportunities are endless. They are small enough to pop into your purse and ideal for keeping the kids entertained in the pub as we did below.

A Beginners Guide to MOKURU

Below is a video taken in our local pub. We watched a demo video and this was the first time my three children gave this toy a go. I'm pretty impressed that they mastered the initial moves right away. I wasn't so lucky.

You can flip MOKURU from one hand to the next, pass along a line of players, use multiple MOKURU at once and the very skilled masters of MOKURU can even play with five or more at once in one hand! Check out the pro moves in this video and check out MOKURU.com for more info:

MOKURU can help aid concentration, focus and imagination and is said to alleviate stress too. I have to say, the toy is pretty addictive and it's very easy to get sucked into challenging each other and trying to beat your own number of flips too. Look at the concentration on my face!!

We all loved playing with MOKURU in the pub - our only issue was that we only have one so far and the kids ended up fighting over whose turn it was next! They are available in a range of colours and I would definitely recommend buying one per child to avoid any upset. Harry was most definitely the expert in our family, closely followed by Heidi and then us grown ups and Jack. Jack enjoyed playing with MOKURU and could manage to flip the toy too but I wouldn't really advise MOKURU for the under 5's.

I'll be packing MOKURU into my handbag on all of our days out this summer and I can already picture my three chasing them down the path or along the bar as we enjoy a quiet pint in the beer garden (well here's hoping anyway). Who knows what tricks we'll have mastered by the end of the summer!

You can buy your own MOKURU from Amazon and Smyths. Click on any of the links above to purchase. They are even available via Amazon Prime so you can have it delivered and start playing tomorrow. Please be aware there are a lot of fakes about - only the original MOKURU has been perfectly balanced and crafted to work effectively.

Let me know if you fancy trying this new craze - I will warn you now, it is slightly addictive!
