Bella Italia Silverlink - A review

We were super pleased to be able to dine at Bella Italia on it's opening night at the Silverlink tonight. Our family loves Italian food, but we have never had the chance to visit Bella Italia. We had a wonderful time and think it will be a lovely asset to our region.

We dined at 5pm on a Friday evening, the atmosphere was lively and friendly. Authentic Italian music was playing in the background and thankfully it was at just the right volume to drown out my 2 year olds occasional tantrums!

Our children were given an activity pack and these really stood out for me. As well as the obligatory puzzle book and crayons there were also masks to decorate and stickers to make an Italian scene with and were a real hit with our children.

The kids menu is fantastic value at £5.25 for 3 courses and a drink. There are plenty of options to choose from so there should be something for even the fussiest of eaters. There are also gluten free options clearly identified.

The children all chose breadsticks followed by pasta - I like how you can choose whether to have penne or spaghetti (why do they always choose the messier option!) and there was even a choice to switch your pasta to wholewheat.

Extra points for little touches such as the waitress asking us if we would prefer smaller cutlery for the children and I always like a restaurant that offers a takeaway option for dessert (Heidi enjoyed her ice lolly during the walk to the car). The children were also given a balloon to take home which was nice. We were really made to feel welcome here.

If we ever see calamari on a menu, we have to order it and Bella Italia's did not disappoint. It was served with tomato and garlic dips which tasted homemade.

For main, I opted for the Pizza Marco Polo which was very tasty and packed with toppings.

Hubby decided to try the tagliatelle Di campagna which looks like a small portion but it is very rich so was just the right amount.

Service throughout was attentive and nothing was a problem. It was exactly how it should be.

Bella Italia is an excellent addition to Silverlink and we will definitely be back soon. There are lots of  reasons for us to go back, but I am especially pleased to see that they are open for breakfast. It was only this morning that my 2 year old was asking us for pizza for breakfast! Well, you can actually order breakfast pizza at Bella Italia!

My children would also love a happy face pancake for breakfast which is a bargain at £3.25.

Bella Italia are known for their milkshakes and my mouth was watering as I was reading the Specials menu on our table. Can't wait to go back and try one of those too!

Bella Italia Silverlink is open Mon-Sun 9am-11pm. Phone 0191 2638133
