A few tips for visiting Gateshead Stadium
- We usually catch the Metro to Gateshead Stadium. It's a short, easy walk from the station to the stadium (just follow the black & white shirts). The 94 bus stops outside the stadium on Neilson Road. Parking is available on a 20 minute walk away on Quarryfield Road (NE8 3AE). £5.70 for up to 12 hours
- There's usually FREE entertainment inside the stadium before the match - Toon themed crafts inside the stadium (Mick Thornton Suite or Room 10 - ask a steward), live music and complimentary football face painting by the pitch. You can also meet Monty & Maggie and have your photo taken. Newcastle United will publish a matchday guide on their website a few days before the match with timings and maps
- You can purchase alcohol and 'drink in the bowl' (ie in your seat while watching the match). There's a lovely coffee van (Ramble & Roast) by the pitch serving fab coffee and hot drinks and a popular ice cream van too. You can purchase chips, pies, hot dogs, sweets etc....from food outlets inside the concourse
- After the match you can usually meet a few of the players / collect autographs / have photos taken next to the pitch
- If you're not sure where to book a ticket, I recommend booking above Row J for a better view and I personally like sitting next to the halfway line for the best overall game view
- Bring cash for a programme - they're for sale as you enter the stadium
- You'll also find two pop-up shops with official merch for sale inside the Mick Thornton Suite
