- This nature reserve in Teesside is such an underrated day out. Entry is free for your first child (then £3.50) and £7 per adult or free if you're a RSPB member.
- It's a good option for those who don't like dogs as pet dogs are not permitted here.
- There are various walks around the site including flat, accessible options with various bird hides to visit along the route.
- The easiest walk is a simple loop around the main lake should take around 20 minutes with no stops (you're going to want to stop at the wildlife hides though).
- As you'd expect, it's a haven for wildlife here and on our last visit we spotted a fox, marsh harrier, little egrit, crane & more.
- It's fun for kids with a Welly Walk, water play, sculptures. Fun facts, fantastic bird-themed playground & nature trails.
- There's a cafe, toilets, visitor centre, binocular hire, info boards and plenty of spotter guides too.
- We love it here! And would recommend as a day out for all ages.
