Steve and I did this last year and will probably book again this year. We had SO much fun and there were lots of adorable animals to meet and stroke. We had such a good laugh - especially at the curious goats who loved photo bombing our selfies.

Farm Parks are definitely not just for kids and this is a fab low-cost idea for a first date, fun date with a long term partner or mate date. And if you don't have a babysitter, kids are of course welcome too (just add them onto your booking as normal admission).

How fantastic!

The gallery also hosts a range of low-cost bookable activities. Highlights for Feb Half Term available to book now include:

❤FAMILY CLAY CRAFTS (£3 per child)
Roll out the clay and sculpt features to make a face. Press it together with your fingers and a dab of water. Will you make a portrait of yourself, someone you're with, or a face inspired by the artworks in the gallery?

Take your clay home and leave it to dry naturally (24 - 72 hours). You can then paint it at home. If you don't have paints at home, let us know and we'll arrange a date for your family to come back to paint it at the Shipley.

Recommended for age 3+ supported by an adult.

❤ HOLIDAY ART CLASSES - MAKE AN EXPLOSION BOOK (£4.50 per child)

Our friendly tutor, Steph will guide you in making an 'explosion book'. These small, square books 'explode' into a series of square and triangular pages when you open them. You'll make your book from card and paper, with colourful abstract patterns drawn on each page. Perfect for ages 7-12 years.

Please note, this session is not focused on creative writing - but is about exploring book art. You'll make one 'explosion book' to take home.

Accompanying adults are encouraged to join in - the class is a great opportunity for families to enjoy creative time together.

Our artist has extensive experience of working with young people including those with SEND and Neurodiversities. We understand that some young people may be older than 12 but find the class age appropriate due to SEND - please contact Hannah.Mackay-Jackson@northeastmuseums.org.uk if this applies to you.

These sessions will be designed to be welcoming and inclusive for all.
