Paddling in Loch Ness

Jack is the last to put his GORE-TEX shoes through their paces (check out Harry & Heidi's posts) and where better to test out how waterproof they actually were than with a spot of paddling in Loch Ness.

During our trip to Loch Ness this summer, we didn't want to have to carry a towel around with us or take a spare pair of shoes everywhere we visited but we also didn't want to deny the kids the chance to experience dipping their toes in the beautifully clear Scottish waters either.

Luckily, GORE-TEX shoes are 100% waterproof. Every pore that the shoe is made of is approximately 20,000 times smaller than a water droplet which ensures absolutely no wet feet when paddling. This was ideal for the kids as they could dip their feet in the waters edge without the worry of having to endure cold and wet feet for the rest of the day. GORE-TEX shoes also have a very good grip and are nice and comfy, meaning they are perfect to wear on a rocky shore line.

As you can see, Jack's GORE-TEX shoes ended up pretty wet, but they dried very quickly and he didn't once complain of wet or cold feet - and the proof was in the pudding when we took his shoes off later that day, his socks and feet were still perfectly dry.

Will you be visiting anywhere for a paddle this summer?

Disclosure: We are GORE-TEX ambassadors and Jack was sent a pair of GORE-TEX shoes in return for an honest review.

  17. Wow that’s incredibly impressive - I always get waterproof sandals for my daughter as they inevitably end up wet but this is a brilliant alternative when it's cold.
