Newcastle University's FREE Discover Fest returns on 7 June. There are over 60 fun and free drop in activities to try across campus including: 
  • Take part in a Chemistry session 
  • Build a floating eco-system on the Tyne with LEGO
  • Try mind-controlling machines 
  • Control a bionic arm 
  • Drop in art workshops 
  • 'How to Survive an Apocolypse' mini family lecture
  • Graduation dress up, face painting and bubble fun for little ones 
  • Try Pickleball with Newcastle University Sports Department 
  • Campus treasure hunt 
  • Try state-of-the-art sports testing 
  • Compete against a self-driving car on the Robo Rally Track

(ad) FREE Redcar Kite Festival (14 & 15 June) 



The fantastic FREE Redcar Kite Festival returns to Redcar Beach on 14 & 15 June. No need to book a ticket - simply turn up between 10am & 4pm. There are loads of FREE activities on offer including: 
  • Admire some of the world's largest kites being flown in the sky by top kite flyers 
  • Kite making workshops 
  • Make a floating jellyfish to fly in the wind 
  • Rockpool school 
  • Kite decorating and wheelchair flag making 
  • Science experiments with Big Science 
  • Sand sculpting workshops 
  • Beach vollyball & football 
  • Puppet shows and storytelling 
  • Live music and walkabout acts 
  • Heritage kite making 
  • Pop up paleontology 
All of the above is FREE! There's also a small selection of chargeable activities including Fossil activities, street food vans and a vintage fairground. You can also book a park and ride ticket in advance for a small charge.

Europe's largest funfair returns to Newcastle Town Moor between 20 & 29 June. Here's a little look at what to expect:
