We absolutely love a day out at Whitehouse Farm and it has been a much-loved family day out for us for over 20 years. It's somewhere that's always striving to provide the very best day out for visitors and is just a lush local family business.

Whitehouse Farm is located near Morpeth in Northumberland. You can check opening times, what's on, book your tickets in advance and get directions here: https://www.whitehousefarmcentre.co.uk/

10 Reasons I Love Whitehouse Farm

1 - They're committed to being inclusive

One reason I absolutely love Whitehouse Farm is that they're always open to feedback and trying their best to ensure they're accessible to all.

Some people may know that our family used to long-term foster a child with a lot of additional needs and Whitehouse Farm was genuinely one of his favourite days out and somewhere we always felt super welcome and accommodated.

There are three sensory / quiet spaces available for anyone who needs them - just ask for the door code in the gift shop. No questions asked. Love this!

Other accessible features at Whitehouse Farm include:

🌟 A full changing places toilet with adult changing bench, harness and shower
🌟 Ear defenders available
🌟 Restrictive diets catered for where possible and a blending service available for PEG feeding
🌟 Three sensory rooms available for anyone to use who needs them - just ask for a code for the door at reception (no questions asked). There's a light room, calm room and dark room
🌟 The farm is fully accessible for wheelchairs with tarmac surfaces and ramps where required
🌟 Mobility scooters and wheelchairs available if required
🌟 Tractor rides can accommodate 2 wheelchairs
🌟 Wheelchair accessible Roundabout in Hoglets Play Area
🌟 Inclusive animal interactions and feeding opportunities

🌟 Farm sensory bags are available to hire - they include ear defenders, sunglasses, pressure bracelet, fidget toys, poppers. You can also view a full sensory audit online before your visit
🌟 Quiet hours are available
🌟 You can bring your own food / drinks and enjoy in the indoor or outdoor picnic spaces

2 - Whitehouse Farm is an all-weather attraction

A trip to Whitehouse Farm should not just be reserved for sunny days, there's absolutely loads to enjoy in all weathers so you don't need to worry about the forecast.

Indoor activities include a giant farmer's den soft play with a dedicated baby, toddler and role play area and several indoor petting barns where you can feed some of the animals and take part in a reptile handling or small animal petting session.

There's also a cafe, events barn (where magic shows / games often take place), an additional marquee, indoor picnic area and indoor racing cars (£1).

Outside you can enjoy the huge adventure playground suitable for all ages, ride on tractors, go karts, tractor rides around the farm, outdoor animal enclosures, a willow maze, birds of prey meet and greets, trampolines, the giant castle catapult tyre slide, wallaby walkthorough, bouncy pillows and more.

There are several picnic tables dotted about and takeaway drinks/ice cream/snack kiosks if you fancy making the most of the weather.

3 - They organise lots of activities during school holidays

A special shout out to Whitehouse Farm at Christmas time. When the kids were little we booked this a few times and it is one of the best Christmas days out in the North East.

There's so much included from letter writing to Santa to Christmas crafts, elf school and more. And of course meeting the main man himself. The farm always goes all out with their decorations and costumes too. It truly is magical.

Outside of the festive period, Whitehouse Farm organise a whole host of activities across school holidays and key dates across the year including magic shows, character meet and greets, games and parties.

We've attended several Superhero weekends and always had loads of fun - the kids love dressing up for these and meeting their idols.

In Spring there's an opportunity to bottle feed lambs and maybe even witness a live birth in the lambing shed. We have been lucky enough to see this twice now and I always love how informative the staff and farmers are and keep visitors in the know about what's going on without interfering with mother nature (unless required).

4 - I love watching their stories from the farm on social media

Hats off to whoever is in charge of social media at Whitehouse Farm as I absolutely love watching their videos. It's a lush way to keep in touch / learning more about behind the scenes between visits.

Whether it's watching the goats play outside, the meerkats chilling, some of the animals being a little bit cheeky or being introduced to the next Dan Burn, I'm always so happy when a Whitehouse Farm video pops into my feed and they always brighten my day.

Make sure you give them a follow: https://www.facebook.com/whitehousefarm

5 - It's a full day out with loads to do

Whitehouse Farm is certainly not somewhere you are in and out within an hour, there's loads going on and it's easily somewhere you can spend a full day out.

First of all, there's the animals. You can meet all the farmyard favourites as well as some exotic species. There's a reptile/critter section, a bird of prey area, small animals, meerkats and you'll often catch goats and ponies just wandering around freely enjoying the attention from visitors.

My personal favourites are the Coatis who were rescued by the farm a few years ago and now get to live a happy enriched life here in Northumberland. We've encountered Coatis in the wild in Mexico and it's always special to see them again.

My daughter is obsessed with the Skinny Pigs at Whitehouse Farm and Steve is in love with the cows there. We all have our favourites.

There are several animal encounters available across the day including goat grooming, bird of prey meet and greet / flying, meerkat talks, small animal handling, critter handling and more. You can buy animal feed on arrival to hand feed selected animals across the day too (make sure you read the signs). There are plenty of hand washing facilities available.

The bouncy pillows, trampolines and castle catapult toboggan slide are perfect for kids with endless energy - AND they can enjoy these as much as they'd like across the day.

There are sand pits, diggers, animal talks, tractor rides, go karts, a huge outdoor play area and new indoor soft play and lots more.

6 - Mams and Dads go free deals

Whitehouse Farm run several special offers across the year including Mams Go Free on Mother's Day and Dads Go Free on Father's Day. They have also organised Grandparents Go Free Days and deals such as 2for1 Entry for Couples on Valentines Day which Steve and I couldn't resist taking advantage of this year.

Keep an eye on their website and social media for upcoming offers.

7 - There's always something new to discover

Whitehouse Farm is not an attraction that just stands still, they are constantly reinvesting and adding new facilities. They added this fab new playground a few years ago, recently built a new huge indoor soft play area and even little bits and bobs like refurbishing their toilets.

During our visit over Easter, I noticed a couple of new bits in progress which are said to open soon. Whitehouse Farm aren't giving much away but have confirmed it's definitely not a giraffe house 🤣.

8 - It's a brilliant day out for all ages

I've visited Whitehouse Farm as a teenager myself, as an adult with my partner and no kids, as mam with my babies, as a mam with my teenagers and with grandparents too. It's one of those days out where everyone gets enjoyment - it's not one where you just sit and watch the kids having fun, the adults usually have just as much fun as the kids.

Babies and 1 year olds go free and visiting with my children at this age was just the cutest thing.

A few photos from memory lane......

A trip to Whitehouse Farm never fails to put a smile on my face and it's a day out my teens are always keen to come along to aswell - you're never too old for a trip to the farm.

9 - You can enjoy hands-on animal experiences

If you're looking for a farm to visit which offers lots of interaction with animals, Whitehouse Farm is the best farm in the North East for this.

There's loads going on from supervised small animal handling (rabbits, guinea pigs, mice etc) to supervised crazy critter sessions where you can stroke a snake or hold a tarantula! All included with the price too.

You can groom and feed some of the animals and at selected times across the day there's a chance to meet and greet some of the birds of prey too.

Whitehouse Farm closely monitor the animals and are really strict about human interaction and ensure the animals are safe and happy at all times.

10 - Whitehouse Farm is accessible by public transport and easy to drive to

There's a large free car park at Whitehouse Farm and it's super easy to drive to - just a few minutes off the A1.

It's also a day out you can enjoy by public transport with bus 463 from Morpeth Bus Station / Train Station stopping outside the farm. Make sure you check timetables before heading out for the most up-to-date info.
