20 Dinosaur Themed Days Out for 2023/2024

It feels like every child goes through a phase of being obsessed with Dinosaurs. Some (like my Jack) don't grow out of it. I am sure he is going to grow up to be a Palaeontologist.

We have visited lots of dinosaur exhibitions and themed days out over the years, both here in the North East and further afield. I thought it was about time I shared them together in one post. Let me know if I have missed your favourite.

Please double-check details with all attractions before setting off. I have tried where possible to only include permanent exhibitions but these can change and I would hate for anyone to be disappointed.

30th Oct 2023 - Dinosaur Adventure Live, Queen's Hall, Hexham.

3 Nov 2023 - Jurassic Earth Live 

Jurassic Earth is a unique interactive experience for all ages. There is the chance to talk to a Tricerotops, roar with a T-Rex and scream with a Spinosaurus. You will also get to watch a dinosaur egg hatch in front of your very eyes.

This show is touring the UK and there isn't a North East date at the moment but the show is visiting Royal Armouries in Leeds on 26 Feb and Scarborough Spa on 3 Nov which are both doable as a day trip. Find out more and book here. 

11 & 12 Nov - Dinomania 

Unforunately there aren't any North East dates for this one, the closest venue is probably Manchester on 11 & 12 Nov. 

Expect the UK's most interactive dinosaur show as guests sit on the floor and dinosaurs walk amongst them. As well as dinosaurs, you can expect lots of fossils and a full size replica T Rex scull. Find out more and book here.

Jurrasic Gardens at Sunderland Winter Gardens 

You will find lots of dinosaurs hidden amongst the plants at Sunderland Winter Gardens. Watch as a baby T Rex hatches from an egg, a 3 metre high Utahraptor, a Stegasaurus and Triceratops grazing on the greenery, a Pteranadons overhead and more.

Sunderland Winter Gardens are FREE to visit and explore at your leisure. They are wheelchair / pushchair accessible too. 

Teessaurus Park, Middlesbrough 

Teessaurus Park is only small so maybe not worth making a special trip out for but it's FREE to visit and definitely worth popping by when you're in the area. 

There are several dinosaurs sculptures to find and they all come with their own info board packed with facts. There is a free QR code trail too. Find out more and read my blog guide to visiting here. 

Dinosaur Golf at Dobbies Morpeth 

The Dinosaur Golf at Dobbies Morpeth is brilliant fun. We visited back in 2016 and really enjoyed the course . 

There are 12 holes to enjoy featuring 10 life size Dinosaurs - some of them move too. Prices are super reasonable and they often run special offers too . Find out more here. 

Great North Museum, Newcastle 

The Great North Museum in Newcastle City Centre is free to visit, accessible and home to a full-size T-Rex skeleton which looks super impressive. Find out more here. 

Lost World of Adventure Golf, Tynemouth 

The Lost World of Adventure Golf in Tynemouth features Dinosaur-themed adventure golf and even a spitting Dinosaur! Find out more here. 

Dinosaur Safari at Hardwick Park 

Hardwick Park is a popular day out in County Durham. You can download the Love Exploring app to your phone free of charge and use it to explore a trail around the park with augmented Dinosaurs. You can use the app to catch Dinosaurs and pose for photos with your new dino friends. Find out more about the app here. 

Jurassic Island Adventure Golf at Stokesley Golf Range 

This Jurassic adventure suitable for all ages features 13 dinosaurs and interactive elements including putt through an erupting volvano, loop the loop dino fossil and step through a T Rex mouth.

Dino Den South Shields 

Dino Den is a unique dinosaur themed toy shop in South Shields with a few added extras you can view and enjoy. No entry fee and the place for dino fans to spend their pocket money. Find out more here. 

Dinosaurs at Blair Drummond 

Entry to the walk-through dinosaur experience is included with admission at Blair Drummond Safari Park and you can visit as many times as you like across the day. There are 20 moving and screeching dinosaurs to view and learn about. Read our review of Blair Drummond Safari Park here. 

Dinosaurs at West Midland Safari Park

West Midland Safari Park is home to Land of the Living Dinsoaurs -  the UK's largest animatronic Dino attraction. Entry is included with admission and you can read our review from a few years ago here. 

Yorkshire Wildlife Park 

Pangea is included with wildlife park entry and a chance to immerse yourself in a prehistoric experience with over 30 life size moving and roaring dinosaurs. This area wasn't open when we last visited but you can read our review of the rest of the park here. 

The wildlife park shares the same grounds as The Hive which includes a dinosaur themed soft play and evolution restaurant where you can dine amongst the dinosaurs. Booking recommended. Find out more here.
