5 Ways to Celebrate New Year's Eve in the North East with Kids

*This is a collaborative post

It's always tricky when you have kids and are trying to organise something the whole family will enjoy for New Year's Eve. We normally have a family party at home but as the children are growing older, I would like to plan something special in the next few years. Here are a few ways to celebrate New Year's Eve in the North East that are child-friendly this year:

5 Ways to Celebrate New Years Eve in the North East with Kids

1 - St James' Park Family New Year Celebrations

From 5pm - 10pm, families can enjoy New Year Celebrations at St James' Park. There will be party games & a disco and Monty and Maggie will make an appearance. A hot fork buffet will be served at 7pm (and I spy my favourite sticky toffee pudding on the menu). Prices are just £30 per adult including one free child. Additional children are charged at £15 and under 3's are free. Call 0191 8525 to book. If you would like to enjoy a glass or two of champagne to celebrate, I would recommend looking at hotels in Jesmond which are only a 10 minute walk from the city centre. The Holiday Inn Jesmond offers free parking.

2 - Winter Carnival Parade

Newcastle's Winter Carnival Parade is perfect for families. There will be puppets, music and live performances around monument from 4:30pm and the parade will set off from monument towards the Civic Centre via Northumberland Street at around 5:15pm and will end with a spectacular fireworks display at Civic Centre. This event is FREE and not to be missed.

3 - Catch a Pantomime

If you haven't managed to catch a Christmas Panto yet, there are still a few tickets available NYE performances including James and the Giant Peach at Northern Stage and Jack and the Beanstalk at the Customs House South Shields. Both of these performances are fantastic for the family and I'd recommend them both.

4 - Family New Year's Eve Party at Blue Flames

This event is just outside of the city centre but the Blue Flames Family New Year's Eve Party is always popular. Tickets are just £12 per adult and £6 for kids and include a disco, buffet, party games, bouncy castle and the football court will be open for kids to play on. Tickets are available from the Blue Flames reception.

5 - Bowling

We loved our trip to AMF Bowling in Washington earlier in the year and their NYE deal has certainly caught our eye. For just £16.99 for adults and £13.99 per children, you can enjoy unlimited bowling from 9pm and will enjoy hot food, a glass of bubbly on arrival, a bottle of Prosecco for your lane (kids will receive squash) and a party atmosphere. This sounds like a huge bargain to me! Enquire online here.
