A Christmas Market Day Trip to Dublin (flying from Newcastle)
This is based on a visit in December 2025 which I paid for myself. As always, please check details with venues direct when making plans as info can change. The currency in Dublin is euros but I have converted everything to pounds for the purpose of this post.
Every year I take a Christmas Market trip with my mam. Last year we visited Leeds (and were disappointed) and the year before (and most years to be fair) it was Edinburgh which we do love.
Thirlwall Castle Adventure
This post is based on a visit in Summer 2024. Most of this info should stay the same but please check with venues direct for changes before heading out.
This is a lovely adventure walk to try. It's nice and short and you usually have the castle to yourself. It's a fab ruin where your imagination can run wild! Thirlwall Castle is located on Hadrian's Wall.
13 Things to do on Holy Island
We love visiting Holy Island and try and visit at least once a year. It’s fab for a day trip with lots of indoor and outdoor options to fill a full day. Staying over is also pretty special and once the day trippers leave, it’s so calm and peaceful.
Always check tide times and leave in plenty of time - you don't want to be caught out! Also be aware that Holy Island is fairly seasonal so check opening hours of venues direct if you'd like to visit.
