They're open all-year round and short breaks start at just £119 for three nights. Bargain! The Bay is approximately a 2.5 hour drive from Newcastle or it's a 1hr 50min journey on the train from Newcastle to Scarborough with a change at York (+ a taxi or bus to The Bay).
Location wise, you're a 40-50 minute stroll along the beach to the traditional seaside town of Filey (or a 5 minute drive), there's a bus stop outside and the coastal towns of Scarborough and Bridlington are within easy reach.
As well as being perfect for dogs, The Bay is fab for humans too with excellent facilities including a swimming pool, gym, sauna, steam room, tennis courts, beauty room, arcade/gaming room and shop/pharmacy.
You'll find regular bingo and live music in the pub and the Away Resorts app is excellent for booking activities including archery or craft club for kids as well as making reservations in the restaurant/ pub.
5 Reasons to Stay at The Bay, Filey with your Dog
1 - Luxurious Dog-Friendly Accommodation
Something that regularly frustrates me when booking a holiday with Fozzy is that the accommodation options are often limited to the most basic types.
So it is super refreshing to see that The Bay offer dog-friendly options across every accommodation type from comfortable apartments up to luxury lodges with hot tubs. A lot of the accommodation on offer can sleep up to 10 guests too and The Bay is perfect for a family get together with dogs.
We stayed in an Exclusive Meadow Lakeside Lodge with a verandah overlooking the lake. It was lovely and stylish and at £460 for 3 nights for 4 of us+ dog over the Easter holidays, I thought it offered excellent value for money. Fozzy soon made himself at home (as did I).
Fozzy is fed a raw diet so having a full size fridge freezer and dishwasher worked perfectly for us.
I would definitely stay in this lodge type again, it was super relaxing watching the ducks and geese on the lake and we enjoyed watching the most beautiful sunrises over the lake each morning.

2 - Direct Access to the Beach & Nature Trails

3 - On-Site Dog Friendly Pub & Restaurant with Doggy Menus
The facilities at The Bay are super dog friendly and dogs are welcome in both the pub and restaurant/bar. Most tables had a dog with them during our visit. There are complimentary treats on the bar and you can order from a special doggy menu if you like.
It did get busy inside the pub at times but if your dog prefers a quieter spot, the indoor courtyard (above) or outdoor seating area was more relaxed.
I liked that the pub and restaurant both offer different menus and you can order a takeaway too so there are plenty of options and you're not restricted to visiting the same place each night. There are some lovely dog-friendly restaurants in nearby Filey too (we recommend The Boat Shed).

4 - The Best Welcome Gift
As we checked in, Fozzy was handed a lovely welcome gift which he could not wait to open.

5 - You Can Visit Lots of Dog-Friendly Attractions (including a Dog-Friendly Zoo)
This area of North Yorkshire is one of our favourites to visit with Fozzy as there are so many places you can take your dog. On this trip, we enjoyed the North Bay Miniature Railway, a walk around Peasholm Park (watch out for the squirrels), a visit to Filey Dog Field and a morning at Filey Zoo.
And finally, how cool is it that Filey has it's own dog-friendly zoo? Filey Zoo is just a 7 minute drive from The Bay and welcomes dogs on leads. Fozzy was mega excited and this visit definitely tired him out before our drive home. He made best friends with the Shetland Pony who kept kicking the fence to get Fozzy's attention whenever he walked away and was intriduced to a range of animals from Skunks to Iguanas.
There's a cheeky parrot who we had a little chat with and Fozzy's favourite animal was definitely the Coati who can walk above your head in their enclosure. We stayed for the Meerkat talk too and Fozzy sat patiently as we listened. It's not a huge place but is a nice family-run attraction and the cafe is reasonably priced if you'd like to round off your visit with a coffee.
We genuinely loved our stay at The Bay and it suited our family perfectly. A nice pub and restaurant on site, luxurious and relaxing accommodation, very welcoming to dogs, plenty to do in the area and very reasonably priced. I have already been pricing up another break here for later in the year.

Please note : There are a few rules to ensure everyone has a good time. Your dog must be kept on a lead around the park, please pick up after your dog (there are lots of bins dotted about) and you cannot leave your dog in your accommodation unattended. Up to two dogs are permitted per accommodation type. At time of publishing, dogs stay for free in May & June but there is usually a small charge.
