What's On in North East England for Kids | January 2019

After hibernating over Christmas, I can't wait to get out and about in January again. I have a few days out planned this month including a trip up to Kielder to try the new Zog trail. I can't wait for that! January is all about being frugal too so please share any ideas you have for free/low-cost days out over in my North East Days Out Facebook Group here. 


Days Out Ideas for January 2019

  • The Zog Trail begins at Hamsterley and Kielder Forest (exact start date to be announced) - see here for details 
  • Kids travel for £1 on Tanfield Railway during every Sunday in January (when accompanied by a fare paying adult) - see here for details 
  • Preston Park has recently launched a new 'Behind the Seams' exhibition featuring 35 costumes from stage and screen including costumes from Poldark, Peaky Blinders, Beauty and the Beast, The Crown, Doctor Who, Game of Thrones and more. The exhibition is available to visit daily until 3 March. Find out more here.
  • Why not try the Winter Nature Trail at Gibside (January and February) - see here for details
  • How about the Creatures of the Night Trail at Wallington (January and February) - see here for details

  • Free Face-painting at The Keel Row every Saturday (12:30-3pm) - see here for details
