Code Monsters - Halloween for kids who love Minecraft and Lego

Campus North in Newcastle hold a number of regular events for children e.g. Code club - as well as parents (their internet safety sessions are always popular) and this half term they're putting on their first ever Halloween event. It should be lots of fun AND IT'S FREE!

Code Monsters event in Newcastle city centre on Saturday 31st October

Campus North and Tech North are putting on a free spooktacular event that includes ghostbusting games, Minecraft zombies and electro monsters from 10am-2pm at Bunker Coffee, Carliol Square.

Aimed at all little monsters aged 6-14 years old, as long as they bring a big monster (aka parent) with them, the freaky fun will also include Lego creations, 3D printing and programming, as well as the more traditional pumpkin carving (bring your own pumpkin).

What to expect?

  • How many ghosts can you catch? Create your own ghost-catching game using Code Club's Ghostbusters Scratch project
  • Block Parties will be providing some awesome entertainment in the form of themed LEGO® games and challenges. Test your skills to see if you can recreate Zombie Steve from Minecraft, a scary Creeper or even your own terrifying creations...
  • Maker Space will be hosting a pumpkin carving workshop - (remember to bring your own pumpkin!). They also have a reaction timer, infinity mirror and 3D printer!
  • Raspberry Pi's with Minecraft: We will be using Python to add new items to a Minecraft world!
  • Trigger Treat! We will be using Python to program some ghoulish monsters to scare your parents with!
  • Kirsty from Success 4 All will guide you in building your own Lego Robot and show you how to programme it using Scratch!
  • The MaKey Makey Station: We will be using Makey Makeys to make a fruit based drum kit
  • Create your own Electro Monster using conductive dough
  • Our face painter will get you trick-or-treat ready with terror-iffic designs!
I am almost tempted to cancel our half term holiday just so I can take my children. I know they would have lots of fun!

  1. Thanks for the info, I hope we can make this as the kids will love it

  2. This looks great thanks for sharing it. The kids love Minecraft, Lego and Halloween so it will be right up their street! x

I always love reading your thoughts and comments - Sam x
