On the eve of the MAD blog awards

So tomorrow is the big day. The MAD blog awards are the UK's biggest and brightest awards for Mum and Dad bloggers and it will be an honour to share my evening with my fellow nominees. When I started blogging 18 months or so ago I would never have dreamed I would be writing this post. Blogging is seriously hard work and it will be lovely to let my hair down for the evening with people who go through and understand the same trials and tribulations that I do.

North East Family Fun are finalists in the best family fun category. We are such a new blog and quite niche to the North East so from the bottom of my heart I really do not believe we will win - it is just fantastic to be invited along to the 5* Royal Garden Hotel Kensington for the evening and be entertained by Cbeebies Dr Ranj as he presents the awards (also very much looking forward to some top notch food and drink).

The MADS will be my first ever bloggers event! Although quite a confident person, it is daunting entering a room full of strangers and you can't help but wonder if everybody might seem like they already know each other? I also wonder if I'll be a bit star-struck meeting bloggers in person who I already feel like I know so well after reading their blogs for what feels like forever or in the case of Noel and Sue, watching them on 16 kids and counting.

I am sure after a glass of wine or too, I will feel a lot better but please if you do see me, come and say hi! You won't miss my mass of red curly hair and I'll be wearing a floor length turquoise dress and will probably be the only person there with a typical Geordie accent.

This is me - Sam! Please Come and say hi!

If you would like to follow the evening, events kick off at 6:45pm on Friday, with the awards starting at 9pm. You can use #Madblogawards hashtag on twitter. Make sure you follow the award sponsors Parentdish on twitter too.

I would also like to say a huge thanks to Visit Northumberland who have helped to make it possible for us to attend the awards.

To all of my fellow finalists, I wish you the very best of luck. I can't wait to meet you all and I'm looking forward to a fantastic fun-filled evening. If you do happen to see me drinking too much wine, please remind me that I am taking my children to The Natural History and Science museums on Saturday and I really don't think dinosaurs and hangovers mix!
