What's On in the North East for Families & Children | 24th & 25th June 2017


Now onto regular business, if you have yet to visit the Hoppings, their last day is Saturday so catch it while you can! There's lots going on this weekend from our very own Glastonbury Festival to a Northumbria Police family fun day. As always, follow my Instagram Stories to see what we're up to.


Saturday 24 - Sunday 25 June | Insect Weekend | Kirkley Hall Zoo

Learn all about insects, how to spot and identify them and complete special mini beasts trail. Find out more here. 


Saturday 24 June | The Great Pirate Plot | The Word South Shields

An interactive session for children aged 7 and under (& their families) who will be taken on an amazing adventure following the secret treasure map. From £2.50. Find out more & book here


Sunday 25 June | GlasTYNEbaby | Hoults Yard

Hoults Yard will be transformed into a magical day of fun for little ones. There will be live music, a BIGG market rave, street food, soft play, street performers and more. Tickets are priced from £7 and available here.

Sunday 25 June | Northumbria Police Family Fun Day | Middle Engine Lane, Wallsend

Say hello to the local police team, shake paws with police dogs and try a military assault course. Have your fingerprints taken by cadets, meet the stars from ITV's Car Wars, meet Police horses, join in with the climbing wall, watch Karate demos and more. Find out more here.


Sunday 25 June | Medieval Day | Durham Castle 

This FREE family event will see Durham Castle take a step back in time. Expect story telling, medieval object handling, crafts, face painting, castle tours and more. Find out more here.

Sunday 25 June | BeeFest | Cherryburn

Celebrate all things 'Bee' at Cherryburn today with competitions, live music, waggle dancing, stalls and education. Find out more here
