What's On for Kids & Families in the North East | 4th & 5th March 2017


I can't explain how excitied I am that March is here! woohoo! I am eagerly waiting for the day I can pack my winter boots away and get my sandals out. Not much longer to go now! We're spending the weekend with Beamish Wild so follow my Instagram stories if you'd like to see what we're up to (subject to phone signal of course - haha). I'll be reporting back soon.......

4th & 5th March | World Book Weekend | Whitehouse Farm

Anyone dressed as their favourite book character will receive half price entry to Whitehouse Farm this weekend. There are lots of fun book-themed activities to enjoy including making book marks, storytelling and a short story contest. Find out more here



4th & 5th March | World Book Weekend | Souter Lighthouse 

From 11am - 4pm you can meet your favourite characters (including The Very Hungry Caterpillar and Room on the Broom) and make Harry Potter-themed crafts with a few familiar faces.  Find out more here



4th March | Chalk presents RESPECT | Cumberland Arms

This event celebrates Women from Funk and Soul. Expect lots of dance floor fillers from Donna Summer to The Supremes alongside short film screenings, bubbles and wall drawing. Find out more and buy tickets here




4th March | FREE Festival of Imagination | Birtley & Leam Lane Libraries

This is a FREE drop in event between 11am-12noon featuring a morning of World Book Day stories and crafts. Find out more here




4th March | Steampunk Comic Book Day | Discovery Museum

In this full day workshop you'll create your very own steampink themed comic book. All materials provided. Find out more and book tickets here


4th March | Happily Ever After with Opera North | Seven Stories

Suitable for ages 4-7 years,  these 30 children and families will explore the world of fairytales with live music in the magical setting of the Seven Stories attic. Find out more and buy tickets here


5th March | Musical Creepy Crawlies | Seven Stories

Suitable for ages 5-11 years, these 30 minute workshops take inspiration from the sounds of insects and bugs, culminating in a musical extraveganza in the attic.  Find out more and buy tickets here


5th March | Jungle Adventure | Rising Sun Country Park

Inspired by The Jungle Book, join LP Dance in Education and their new jungle adventure. There will be jungle dancing, games and a bespoke goody bag for every child. Find out more and buy tickets here
