What's On in the North East for Families & Kids | 12th & 13th November

Oh, the first festive events are making an appearance this weekend. Exciting stuff! I have a bumper 6 events to share rather than my usual 5 as I couldn't choose between them all. A lot of these events are FREE too which is always a bonus.

What's On in the North East for Families & Kids | 12th & 13th November


St James' Festive Fayre
12 & 13 November | St James' Park 

St James' Park are hosting an epic Festive Fayre that's family friendly too. There will be decorations, handmade gifts, edible treats & more. Plus soft play, face painting, zoo academy, taster stadium tours, bowling, crafts and more. Entrance Fees apply. See here for details. 



FREE Lego Exhibition
12 & 13 November | National Railway Museum, Shildon

This is a fantastic sounding event with FREE parking and FREE entry. You'll find 5 of the largest lego playsets ever released, lego play pits, lego themed displays and lego traders alongside all of the regular attractions at the museum. Find out more here. 



Launch of Christmas Dalton Park
12 November | Dalton Park

Another FREE event is happening at Dalton Park this weekend. Their 'Launch of Christmas' event will see the arrival of Santa Claus and his real reindeer and enjoy a parade through the centre. Metro Radio will be on the mall from 3pm - 7pm with music and entertainment and then there's the big Christmas light 'switch on' at 6:30pm followed by a big firework finale. Winter Weekend of Fun at intu Metrocentre
12 & 13 November | intu Metrocentre

Yes, you guessed it, another FREE event. This time, intu Metrocentre are the hosts. A fun-filled weekend is planned with lots of festive fun and entertainment. There'll be roaming Princesses and Harry Potter characters, a giant snow globe and even an indoor skating rink. On Saturday from 2pm there will be some very special guests joining Metro Radio's Dan Moylan for the big festive lights switch on including X Factor contestant Melissa Pedro and Oritse from JLS. Ice Skating at Life opens
From 12 November | Life Science Centre, Newcastle

If you're looking for a real ice skating rink in Newcastle, then look no further. The Ice Rink outside Newcastle's Centre for Life is always popular. Prices are £25 for a family of 4. See website for all you need to know. 



Medieval Pop-up cafe at Newcastle Castle
12 November | Newcastle Castle & Keep

A final fantastic and FREE event! Newcastle Castle is opening it's doors and offering FREE entry to all during this pop up Medieval event. Step back in time and enjoy the displays of medieval food that would have been enjoyed by both rich and poor in the 14th century. You'll also have the chance to enjoy some medieval crafts and tavern games. This event is in collaboration with the Magic Hat Cafe who will be upcycling surplus food to the community on a 'pay as you feel' basis.  Find out more here.
