What's on in the North East for kids and families | 8th & 9th October


Welly Weekend | Kirkley Hall Zoological Gardens
Saturday 8th & Sunday 9th October 
10am - 4pm

Kirkley Hall Zoological Gardens will be supporting national welly week which aims to raise money and awareness about RABI's national farming charity through having fun. Wear your wellies for £1 off entry. Find out more here.


Draw your own Snowdog | The Gallery, Gateshead Library
Saturday 8th October
10am - 12:30pm

Using the Central Library Snowdog as inspiration, this is your chance to get creative and design & draw your very own Snowdog. Art materials will be provided and the finished pieces will be displayed in a mini exhibition in the library next week. FREE event and no booking required, simply drop in. Find out more here. 


Apple Weekend | The Walled Garden, Gibside
Saturday 8th & Sunday 9th October
11am - 3pm

Head to the Walled Garden in Gibside this weekend and celebrate the rich variety of apples that grow in Great Britain. There will be stunning displays and games for the whole family to play including juicing and bobbing. FREE event but normal admission applies. Find out more here. 


Hey Presto | The Barbour Room, Sage Gateshead
Sunday 9th October 
11am & 2pm

New Writing North and Sage Gateshead present a brilliant new production featuring original live music, magic tricks and lots of laughter for children aged 7 and under plus their families.  Presto and Monty join the town's carnival with their magic show in this story of friendship. Tickets are £5.36 each including booking fee. Find out more and book here. 


Scooby Doo visits Alnwick Garden | Near the Poison Garden
Saturday 8th October
Various intervals between 11am - 3pm

Pop into Alnwick Garden and meet Scooby Doo as he takes a break from solving mysteries. He'll be appearing at various intervals throughout the day. FREE event but normal admission applies. See here for more information. 


Last weekend we took advantage of Tyne & Wear Metro's Snowdog Travel deal - for £10 you will receive a travel card which is valid for one day across all metro trains, the Shields ferry and local train services between Newcastle and Sunderland for 2 adults and 3 children. You'll also receive free limited edition Snowdog wristbands. I think it is probably too late to order these for this weekend, but it's something to think about for next weekend.
