What's On in the North East for Kids & Families on 6th & 7th August 2016

It's the weekend! YEAH! We are just having a low key weekend after a busy week with a picnic in the park but please let me know what you're up to in the comments below. Here are 5 events to start you off:-

What's On in the North East for Kids & Families on 6th & 7th August 2016

Medieval Madness
Preston Park
Sunday 7th August 10am-4pm (last admission 3:30pm)

Step back in time with medieval re-enactments, try out candle dipping and embroidery and watch the Knight's battle it out in the medieval tournaments. Event is included with museum admission (£5 per family per year). See here for more information. 

Mall Con 2 Summer Spectacular
Manor Walks Shopping Centre, Cramlington

Wednesday 3rd - Sunday 7th August

A mini comicon extravaganza. Expect toys, comic books, autographs and collectables. There'll also be an array of props, cosplay and face painting. FREE event. See here for more details. 

Viking Raiders & Invaders 
Tynemouth Priory
Saturday 6th & Sunday 7th August 11am - 5pm

Tynemouth Priory & Castle are being invaded by Vikings this weekend. Listen to tales of terror, visit an encampment and watch training exercises and displays of combat. Free event but normal admission to the Priory applies. See here for more information. 

Souter Solar Day
Souter Lighthouse

Sunday 7th August 10am-5pm

Join Souter Lighthouse and the South Shields Astronomical Society for a rare chance to look (safely) at the sun with specially adapted telescopes that allow you to see details on the sun's surface. Experts will be on hand to explain the sun's features and why it's so important in our universe. Free event but normal admission applies. See here for more information. 

Fun Life Weekends
Dalton Park Outlet Shopping Centre

Saturday 6th & Sunday 7th August

There's lots of fun to be at Dalton Park this weekend with colourful street theatre, jazz bands, buskers and a whole lot of outdoor fun. Free event. See here for more information.
