Tapas at Noir Lounge, Whitley Bay

We were invited to lunch at Noir Bar & Lounge in Whitley Bay this week. We managed to score one of the free dedicated restaurant parking spaces right outside the restaurant door which was very handy. We visited on a weekday afternoon to take advantage of their fabulous 3 tapas for £10.95 deal which is available everyday from 12noon-7pm. I will be honest when I say the atmosphere wasn't up to much, we were the only customers and the venue did lack atmosphere. It made up for this with delicious food and I loved how the bar had a real festive feel to it in a classy way - the shiny white fairy lights, silver ornaments and exposed brick really worked well together.

All of our food was hot, fresh and delicious. If we had to pick a favourite dish it would definitely be the crispy chorizo and goats cheese salad - heaven on a plate! I will let the pictures speak for themselves:-

I think you'll agree that at £22 our lunch was very good value. In fact, we seemed to have ordered so much that we couldn't finish it! Noir also offer a 3 tapas and house wine deal for £17.95 deal which would be ideal for meeting with friends after work. I would like to give a special mention to the two ladies who looked after our table - they really are a credit to Noir and went out of their way to make us feel welcome.

It is a shame that the venue lacked atmosphere during our visit as I think it really does have a lot of potential. If Noir was located in Tynemouth for example, I'm sure they'd be turning people away.

  1. The food looks amazing! I've never had a tapas but it would make a nice change from the usual Italians.

It's a shame about the atmosphere, it does feel a bit wierd and spoils the meal when you're the only ones there. Perhaps it's a lot busier after work or during the weekend

  2. I do love tapas and this looks lovely - I wonder if they have more of a buzz in the evenings.

  3. This is totally my kind of food. I hope they manage to find a way to populate those hours, though this is a really good idea for something simple to serve during the quiet hours. If it was near me I'd definitely be popping in for a late lunch today!
