Winter wardrobe essentials for girls

Although it may not feel like it (it hit 22 degrees in the UK on 1st November yesterday), the colder weather is fast approaching. I'm a firm believer that you shouldn't let the cold weather stop you from enjoying outdoor adventures and have fond memories of exploring the Gruffalo's child trail in the snow last January. We hope to enjoy lots of outdoor activities again this winter and are already planning a family walk from Craster to Dunstanburgh Castle in December.

As long as you wrap up warmly, winter adventures can be just as fun as those in summer and today I thought I would share some of my top 5 winter wardrobe essentials for girls:-

Kids Ugg Boots

I love this selection of Kids Ugg boots and particularly love the Kensington black leather 1969 boot. Lined with sheepskin, I think these are the perfect alternative to wellies and will keep your children's feet lovely and snug.

Winter Coat

Heidi's winter coat is from John Lewis this year and it's fair to say we both adore it. She likes to pretend she is little red riding hood and at only £38 it is very well priced for the quality. We've already received lots of compliments when she's been out and about wearing it.

Winter Dress

Despite the cold, you can still wear a dress in winter time and I have my eye on this Acer dress by GuuGuu at Pikku. The burgundy colour is stunning for the autumn/winter season and because this dress has long sleeves it would look perfect teamed with some thick tights and a gilet on those crisp winter mornings.

Funky Tights

Heidi loves tights and has a nice selection - we normally buy a few new styles for autumn/winter and these Hoot Owls Organic tights by Slugs and Snails from Freya Lillie fit the bill this year - I can already see Heidi wearing them with a mustard dress and boots.

Winter Hat

Heidi loves a pompom hat and has worn one every year since she was born. Their classic design is timeless and I always think they add a little fun to any outfit. This year, Heidi's hat is again from John Lewis but I also love this hat from Barbour at House of Fraser too (and it's a bargain at £12.99)

So those are our top 5 winter essentials for girls. I'd love to hear if you have a favourite or if you have any you would add to our list.

  1. I love her coat! Times like these when I wish I had a girl. Boys clothes are often a bit of a yawn compared to pretty girlie things!
