Seafood platter at £3.20 per head

A recent visit to The Boathouse who specialise in locally sourced seafood has certainly given me the taste for more! Seafood is usually expensive though and as pay day still seems like a distant dream it is not something I would usually cook when I'm trying to save some pennies. However a recent trip to Aldi inspired me to create a seafood platter of our own within budget.

Our Aldi Seafood Platter for two

  • Mussels in a white wine sauce - £1.99

These were lovely - this is half of the whole pack. As you can see, my bowl is overflowing so very good value.

  • Salmon with a mustard and dill dressing - £1.99

Salmon is usually soooo expensive! Again this is half of the pack. There were five large slices in there to share between us. The mustard and dill dressing was served in a separate packet and made an unusual change (in a good way).

  • Wholetail scampi £1.79

I wanted something hot to pad the dish out - Aldi's wholetail scampi from their freezer section certainly did this. We enjoyed 6 pieces each and it didn't cheap like scampi sometimes can.

  • Part baked bread - 39p for 4 rolls

These roll's are bought part-baked and you simply finish them in the oven at home. There is nothing better than freshly baked bread straight from the oven while it's still warm and it was the perfect side to our meal.

So there you have it, a delicious seafood platter at £3.20 per head from Aldi. Everything tasted lovely and fresh and there was no compromise on quality. I am now wondering what other restaurant-style meals I can re-create at home for a fraction of the price.

PS - this is NOT a sponsored post.
