Homemade fish fingers

I always think if you get the kids involved in cooking they are much more likely to eat what is put down in front of them. Tonight we decided to make our own fish fingers. 

We bought some cod fillet at Aldi with 30% off so it worked out very cheap. 400g of cod fillet made approximately 16 fish fingers.

It was daddy's job to cut the fish into fingers.

Then I set a production line up on our dining table consisting of a bowl of flour, a bowl of egg wash and a bowl of breadcrumbs (you can make your own breadcrumbs in a food processor but we already had some in our cupboard)

The kids enjoyed getting involved and getting their hands dirty. 

We then placed our fish fingers on a baking tray. At this stage they can be frozen for use at a later date.

We popped ours straight in the oven at 190 C for about 20 minutes.

Here's the final result. We served them with oven chips and garden peas. Everybody enjoyed them and the whole meal was under 500kcals. It is definitely something we will try again.
